Customs Nomenclature Analyst

This position opened in the Customs department under the leadership of the Tax & Customs Centre of Competences, within Finance, covering all Divisions.

The Nomenclature Analyst will be responsible for customs classification of Airbus engineering systems and tools, by assigning tariff codes (HS codes) and accurate descriptions to tangible goods. The classification is issued after careful analysis of data found in several Airbus databases (e.g. drawings, maintenance manuals, standards).

The Nomenclature Analyst will have a strong engineering/technical knowledge relating to Airbus aerospace systems of all divisions, allowing support to non-technical stakeholders in the supply chain.

Manage data needed to perform customs clearance activities, ensuring compliance in front of customs authorities and securing a smooth flow of goods.

The Nomenclature Analyst will work with the Financial Systems customs representative to achieve end-to-end digital management of classification data, as well as through activities with all departments involved in other data needed for customs declarations, such as Procurement, Transport-Logistic, Manufacturing, Programs, Finances, etc.

Integrated into a transverse team, the Nomenclature Analyst will support requests for customs classification and other customs data from all Airbus divisions through an internal multinational network of customs experts.

Responsible for reviewing data quality and will, with the support of the customs teams, propose any applicable updates to the customs Directive A1087 & all associated quality documents and will support the formalization of the ERM process.

Requirements - our ideal candidate will have:

1. A recognized Bachelor or Master degree related to Engineering, ideally aerospace/aeronautical/mechanical, Data Science, Business management or Law/Trade
2. Experience in aircraft maintenance/planning would be an asset
3. Willingness to learn about customs, specifically about classification rules
4. English is mandatory and an additional language would be an asset
5. At least 3-5 years of experience
6. Experience in analysis and evaluation of national and inter-company cross-border business relationships
7. Proven ability to cooperate with people, preferably across geographies, even without formal reporting lines (e.g. virtual team), capable of both teamwork and working independently, with integrity and ethics
8. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to rapidly establish credibility and trust among a broad range of individuals within the company and through virtual means of communication
9. Outstanding conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with a high energy level
10. Creativity, innovation and sense of anticipation are key skills for this position; critical thinking
11. Awareness and sensitivity to other cultures and ability to effectively work with colleagues in other countries and regions, ideally including international and multicultural working and living experience
12. Self-learner, being self-aware of strengths and weaknesses, open and receptive to feedback and taking steps to improve, as necessary
