About the Role
HEADS is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Finance Officer to manage financial operations and ensure transparency, accuracy, and compliance with donor and organizational policies. This role is crucial in supporting effective program delivery by maintaining robust financial systems. The Finance Officer will work closely with the management team and contribute to building a financially sustainable and accountable organization.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role means delivering timely and accurate financial reporting, ensuring compliance with internal controls and donor requirements, maintaining accurate financial records, and proactively supporting audits and project planning through quality financial insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day financial transactions and maintain updated records
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Process payments, manage petty cash, and ensure proper documentation
- Maintain and reconcile bank statements
- Monitor budget implementation and track expenditures against budget lines
- Support audit processes and ensure compliance with donor financial guidelines
- Enter and manage financial data in QuickBooks or other accounting software
- Coordinate with program and admin teams for smooth financial operations
- Assist in payroll preparation and statutory deductions
- Ensure financial policies and procedures are followed at all levels
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (e.g., MBA/MPA/M.Com/B.Com Hons)
- 2–3 years of experience in the NGO or development sector
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and MS Excel is essential
- Strong understanding of donor compliance and financial regulations
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated commitment to integrity, transparency, and ethical practices
