Job description

Our client is an ultra-luxury resort, recognized globally as a leader in the hospitality industry, is looking for a talented and experienced Head Sommelier to join their team.

The Head Sommelier is responsible for overseeing the restaurant and beverage experience, ensuring that menus, wine lists, and amenities remain relevant while aligning with wellness and sustainability practices. This role also involves collaborating with various departments to anticipate guest needs, uphold service standards, and enhance overall dining experiences.

Requirements:

  1. A high school diploma or equivalent, with 1-3 years of restaurant management experience in a full-service outlet or a similar setting.
  2. 3+ years of demonstrated sommelier experience.
  3. A Hospitality Management Degree or some college education is preferred.
  4. Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is acceptable.
  5. Strong proficiency in written and spoken English, along with the ability to reside in a remote location for extended periods and travel on a single status basis.
  6. Have worked with wine lists that cover all the regions: USA, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Chile, New Zealand, and Australia.
  7. Microsoft Office application literacy, cross-cultural work environments exposure.
  8. Knowledge and experience in the purchasing and production process and is equally versed in global distribution.
  9. Very good command over written and spoken English.
  10. A second spoken language would be preferred [Multilingual: Fluency in multiple languages, such as English, Russian, French, Spanish, German, would be highly beneficial for communicating with diverse clientele].
  11. Working experience in a remote location is a plus!

Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure all established policies, procedures, and best practices are in place and strictly enforced.
  2. Support the Director of Food & Beverage in enhancing the restaurant and culinary experience.
  3. Continuously assess Food & Beverage amenities, menus, and wine lists to ensure relevance and alignment with wellness and sustainability practices.
  4. Collaborate with Guest Services, Reservations, and Front Office to anticipate and fulfill guest needs.
  5. Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of menus and daily specials across all outlets.
  6. Demonstrate expertise in the wine list and provide informed recommendations to guests.
  7. Possess a thorough understanding of all resort facilities and services.
