Role Overview

As a Compliance Expert, you will be responsible for ensuring that AniCura meets relevant legal and regulatory requirements. You will be the driving force behind standardized ethical business practices and regulatory excellence, ensuring our teams across Europe operate with confidence and accountability.

From safeguarding data privacy and ensuring GDPR compliance to leading business ethics initiatives, you will navigate complex regulations, mitigate risks, and shape a culture of trust. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will develop policies, training programs, and risk management strategies that empower employees to make the right decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Compliance Program & Ethical Business Practices
  • Conduct compliance risk assessments, policy development, and monitoring efforts.
  • Develop and maintain a compliance self-assessment tool to measure program effectiveness.
  • Monitor and respond to compliance-related queries from associates and business teams.
  • Drive ethical business practices in relation to anti-corruption, anti-bribery and conflicts of interests by ensuring compliance with FCPA, UK Bribery Act, and local laws.
  1. Data Privacy & Protection
  • Manage Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs), Data Privacy Impact Assessments (DPIAs), and legitimate interest assessments.
  • Investigate privacy breaches, incidents, and regulatory complaints, recommending remediation plans.
  • Maintain and oversee the Record of Processing Activities (RoPA) and ensure compliance with data retention policies.
  • Provide guidance on Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) and supplier data privacy obligations.
  • Lead privacy training programs and awareness campaigns across the organization.
  1. Regulatory & Policy Compliance
  • Ensure adherence to evolving European regulations such as:
  1. General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
  2. The EU AI Act
  3. Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD)
  4. Germany’s Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkSG)
  • Ensure adherence to internal policies, procedures and processes.
  • Support Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) due diligence and onboarding from a compliance and privacy perspective.
  1. Risk Management & Governance
  • Support internal audits and compliance monitoring to assess and mitigate risks.
  • Identify potential compliance gaps and recommend corrective actions.
  • Oversee market Privacy champions to promote local accountability and best practices across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Establish reporting and monitoring mechanisms to track compliance and privacy performance metrics.
  1. Stakeholder Engagement & Training
  • Collaborate with internal teams such as Legal, Marketing, Procurement and IT to ensure company-wide alignment.
  • Partner with Mars Privacy and Global Compliance teams to integrate AniCura’s compliance programs within the broader Mars Veterinary Health framework.
  • Lead training initiatives for employees, ensuring they understand compliance obligations and ethical business practices.

  • Location: Preferably Stockholm but other European countries may be considered
  • Contract: Full-time
  • Languages: Fluency in English (additional European languages are a plus)
  • Key Stakeholders: Legal & Compliance team, Market Management Teams, Mars Privacy Team, Procurement

Qualifications & Experience

  • University degree in Law, IT, Political Science, Business Administration, Sustainability, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CIPP/E for data privacy) are a plus.
  • Experience working with compliance tools such as OneTrust is a plus.

Required Skills & Expertise

  • 3+ years of experience in Compliance, Privacy, Risk Management, or Regulatory Affairs.
  • Strong knowledge of GDPR required, knowledge of anti-corruption laws (FCPA, UK Bribery Act) and AI Act a plus.
  • Experience in compliance audits, risk assessments, and supplier due diligence a merit.
  • Proven ability to work in a multinational environment with diverse stakeholders.
