WWTP Technician

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to manage, operate, and maintain the water treatment facilities to ensure safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible treatment of wastewater. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the operation of equipment and machinery used in the treatment process, monitoring quality control, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and monitor various equipment and machinery involved in the wastewater treatment process, including pumps, motors, filters, and aerators.
• Perform routine inspections and maintenance of plant systems and equipment to ensure optimal functioning.
• Monitor chemical levels and adjust treatments as necessary to meet water quality standards.
• Record and maintain accurate logs of daily operations, equipment performance, and chemical usage.
• Collect samples of wastewater for testing, analysis, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
• Perform troubleshooting and corrective actions when issues or malfunctions occur.
• Ensure adherence to safety standards and environmental regulations at all times.
• Prepare and submit regulatory reports, ensuring compliance with local environmental agency standards.
• Respond promptly to emergency situations and operational disruptions.
• Coordinate with team members and management to optimize plant performance.
• Conduct regular cleaning, testing, and calibration of water treatment equipment.
• Ensure proper documentation and handling of hazardous waste materials.
• Assist in the development and implementation of preventive maintenance schedules.

Required Qualifications:

• Diploma or equivalent (associate’s degree or certification in Environmental Science, Water Treatment, or a related field preferred).
• Years of experience in wastewater treatment or a similar field.
• Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, equipment, and operations.
• Familiarity with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
• Strong troubleshooting and mechanical skills.
• Ability to operate and maintain complex equipment.
• Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, SCADA systems).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
