Welder - Multi-skilled

Job Summary

The Welder role is responsible to demonstrate exceptional proficiency in TIG and Electron-beam welding techniques, particularly with titanium alloys, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work within demanding deadlines.
This role will play a critical part in ensuring the safe and efficient repair and maintenance of critical aircraft components.

Job Responsibilities

1. TIG Welder

1. Perform precise TIG welding on titanium components using a wide range of specifications and procedures.
2. Ensure proper welding parameters and heat treatment to meet specific weld requirements.
3. Select appropriate welding parameters based on material thickness, welding position, and application according to the approved documents.
4. Adhere to strict quality control protocols, ensuring welds meet industry standards and company specifications.
5. Perform routine and preventative maintenance on welding equipment.
6. Support the team in new product development for TIG welding processes.
7. Train new TIG welders according to the approved documents and provide guidance as required.

2. Electron-Beam Welder

1. Perform high-precision electron beam welding on titanium alloys according to established procedures and specifications.
2. Interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
3. Select and set up appropriate welding parameters based on material and component requirements.
4. Troubleshoot welding issues and implement corrective actions to ensure optimal weld quality.
5. Prepare and clean weld surfaces to ensure weld quality and accuracy.
6. Perform routine and preventative maintenance (TPM) as scheduled for the EB Weld machines and related equipment.
7. Support the team in new product development for EB welding processes.
8. Train new TIG welders according to the approved documents and provide guidance as required.

3. Other Responsibilities

1. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance welding processes and quality.
2. Maintain accurate records of welding procedures, parameters, and inspection results.
3. Collaborate effectively with other team members, including engineers, technicians, and inspectors.
4. Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all safety regulations and best practices.
5. Perform other duties, tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Job Qualifications

TIG Welder

1. Minimum of 3+ years of experience as a Titanium TIG Welder.
2. High school diploma or equivalent technical training in welding preferred.
3. Proficient in Aerospace Welding Standards (AWS D17.1, AS9100).
4. In-depth knowledge of titanium welding characteristics, including metallurgy, welding parameters, and post-weld heat treatment.
5. Excellent TIG welding skills with precise weld bead placement, penetration control, and surface finish.
6. Experience in GTAW and SMAW are an added advantage.
7. Ability to interpret and follow complex engineering drawings and specifications.
8. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining the highest quality standards.

EB Welder

1. Minimum of 3+ years of experience as a Titanium Electron-Beam Welder in an MRO or related industry.
2. High school diploma or equivalent technical training in welding preferred.
3. In-depth knowledge of electron beam welding principles, techniques, and best practices.
4. Extensive experience with welding titanium alloys, including various grades and thicknesses.
5. Proficiency in using electron beam welding machines and related equipment.
6. Strong understanding of welding metallurgy and heat treatment processes.
7. Ability to interpret and follow complex engineering drawings and specifications.
8. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
9. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
10. Commitment to safety and quality standards.
11. Welding certifications (AWS, ASME) preferred.
