Wastewater Technician

• To assist superior in managing wastewater treatment system and environmental management comply with all legal requirements under Environmental Quality Act 1974.
• Conduct performance monitoring for each of the wastewater treatment system to ensure the efficiency of the treatment.
• To perform routine preventive maintenance and troubleshoot on the wastewater treatment system.
• To perform quality control checks and initiate maintenance work for malfunctioning equipment that may lead to non-compliance environment.
• To ensure the performance monitoring tools are always in good conditions and update direct superior on the calibration status.
• To collect wastewater sample and conduct regular in-house laboratory tests (pH, DO, COD, TSS, MLSS, MLVSS, SV30 etc.) on the wastewater system to ensure the discharge quality comply with Standard B and report the lab testing data on a daily basis to the direct superior.
• To assist in monitoring the chemical usage and optimization of the wastewater system by conducting jar tests and report to the superior.
• To manage the sludge treatment system and ensure the sludge is disposed of properly as required. Sludge shall not be disposed of illegally.
• Record all the performance monitoring data and keep all the documents up-to-date for auditing and authorities’ review for at least 3 years.
• To assist superior in ensuring the wastewater sample is collected by the external accredited laboratory every week and report to the superior.
• To assist in submitting the wastewater report to DOE using the OER system on a monthly basis and report to the direct superior.
• To ensure the chemical SDS is up-to-date and always maintain good condition of the chemical storage area.
• To arrange daily tasks of subordinates and monitor the attendance/performance. Report to direct superior on any issues that require support.
• To conduct daily housekeeping at the sump area and weekly clear the oil and grease trap. Report to the direct superior on a daily basis.
• Assist to control activities relating to discharge of wastes into the environment that leads to water pollution.
• Assist in managing scheduled waste in compliance with Environmental Quality (Scheduled Waste) Regulation 2005.
• Assist to maintain the scheduled waste store in good conditions and comply with regulations such as signage conditions, bunding conditions and always locked to ensure only authorized personnel are allowed to enter the store.
• Assist direct superior in ensuring the scheduled waste is stored in proper containers and labelled properly.
• To assist in scheduled waste disposal collection time. Ensure the licensed contractor undergoes weighbridge in and out of the premises by coordinating with warehouse personnel and security.
• To comply with all legal requirements for safety, health, and environment.
• To undertake other responsibilities assigned by direct superior from time to time.

Job Requirements

• Possess at least a Diploma in Environmental or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years working experience in a similar capacity is preferred.
• Advantages for those that have competency in CePIETSO-BP/ CePIETSO-PCP.
• Result-oriented, possess a strong sense of responsibility, urgency, and commitment to efficiently meet deadlines.
• Must be willing to work in Pulau Indah, Klang.
