Job title: WASTE WATER TREATMENT OPERATION TECHNICIAN

Summary/Objective: To maintain and control the wastewater treatment system to ensure environmental compliance with all local, state, and federal laws without major interruptions.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

1. Ensure the efficient and optimum operations of the industrial effluent and reverse osmosis water treatment system.
2. Respond and conduct industrial effluent treatment process control and monitoring effectively and efficiently and suggest any improvement.
3. Conduct periodic checks and routine inspections to treatment processes according to the system recommendation and checklist.
4. Troubleshoot treatment processes failure promptly. Under urgent cases, the person shall be required to work outside normal hours.
5. Conduct regeneration to ion exchanger package of water treatment as per standard procedure to ensure resin in the vessel is completely regenerated.
6. Conduct backwash to multimedia filter and activated carbon filter as per standard procedure to ensure the media and carbon in the vessel are completely backwashed.
7. Monitor and perform day-to-day treatment system operation with SCADA and site data logging.
8. Ensure all treatment processes operate and perform as per operation need, cost-effectively, safely, and efficiently.
9. Report treatment processes performance and monitor the sequence of operation in accordance with the approved treatment process control specification.
10. Ensure the work is performed in accordance with the specifications and approved procedures.
11. Conduct COD, SS, turbidity, pH, nickel tests at in-house lab. Conduct jar test and pilot column test at in-house lab as and when required.
12. Conduct filter clothes cleaning when required.
13. Comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
14. Perform related duties as directed.
15. Manage the biological pond condition.
16. Special projects as instructed by Management on any plant operation issue.
17. Adhere to all Samtec Quality Principles and actions.

Required Experience

1. Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial effluent treatment system operation consisting of chemical treatment package, ion exchanger package, multimedia filtration system, activated carbon filtration system, and dewatering system (filter press & decanter).
2. Minimum 3 years of experience in reverse osmosis water system operation consisting of multimedia filtration system, activated carbon filtration system, double pass RO system, and ion exchanger package.
3. Experience in DOE Std.A final effluent discharge industrial effluent treatment system is preferred.
4. Experience in ion exchanger regeneration with sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid for weak acid cation resin and strong acid cation resin is preferred.
5. Experience in operation of industrial effluent treatment system control by SCADA is preferred.
6. Experience in membrane cleaning and resin replacement is preferred.

Preferred Education/Experience

1. High school, Certificate/Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical or other engineering is preferred.
