Our client is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Vice President of Legal to oversee all legal matters within their organization. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in corporate law, regulatory compliance, and contract management, with a proven track record of providing sound legal advice in a fast-paced environment.
Your new role
- Providing legal advice and support on various commercial law matters which include but is not limited to contract and commercial issues, as well as overseeing and assisting on legal challenges.
- Drafting, reviewing, advising and/or negotiating various commercial contracts, e.g., trading, purchasing, supply, service, distribution agreements etc.
- Providing legal advisory services to other parts of the business to minimise legal risks, whether in the form of customer complaints response, looking over promotional materials, terms & conditions and others.
- Advising the business on certain regulations, including but not limited to reviewing developments and legislation on relevant legal and regulatory matters, as well as keeping the business abreast of developments and updates, on data protection, competition, anti-corruption, and other relevant laws to ensure compliance.
- Assisting the regional legal team on business projects / initiatives such as training, conferences, know-how for Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei.
- To prevent/minimise any potential litigation risk of the Company and working closely with external counsel in relation to litigation matters if any.
- To work together with the Government Liaison Department to manage and attend to any fines, penalties or other matters involving the government authorities.
- Managing general compliance matters, which include working with the Risk Management as well as the Compliance & Audit teams.
- Custodian of all contracts and other important documents such as land titles.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to qualify for this role, you must have:
- 10–15 years PQE [both private practice and in-house combined]
- Strong knowledge of corporate law, regulatory compliance, and contract management.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Proven ability to lead and develop a high-performing legal team.
