We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The Veterinary Assistant will support veterinarians with daily operations at our veterinary medical center. This includes providing care and treatment to pets, performing animal handling, assisting with medical procedures, and supporting wellness tasks to ensure the health and well-being of animals under our care.
Assisting Veterinarians: Support veterinarians in daily tasks, including patient care, medical procedures, and treatments.
Animal Handling: Safely handle and restrain animals during examinations, procedures, and treatments.
Laboratory & Diagnostics: Process patient samples for laboratory testing, operate diagnostic equipment, and assist with various diagnostic procedures.
Surgical Support: Assist in surgical procedures, prepare the operating room, and provide support during surgeries. Ensure proper cleaning and sterilization of instruments and the operating area post-surgery.
Patient Care: Provide nursing care to hospitalized pets, including monitoring vital signs, managing wounds, bandaging, feeding, medicating, and exercising animals.
Waste Disposal Compliance: Ensure proper disposal of waste and sharp items in accordance with health and safety regulations.
Hygiene & Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and hygienic environment by disinfecting cages, kennels, and common areas, and ensuring cleanliness of feeding utensils.
Customer Service: Provide excellent client service, including follow-up care and communication to ensure a high level of patient care and client satisfaction.
Reception Duties: Answer phones, schedule appointments, process payments, and issue receipts for clients.
Appointment Scheduling: Organize appointment schedules for outpatient visits, inpatient care, and surgical procedures. Manage client visits and pet transportation.
Financial Administration: Prepare quotations and invoices, manage cash register, and ensure smooth financial operations for the next day.
Cash Administration: Submit daily Petty Cash Book and Day-End Closing Summary timely and accurately.
Medication Dispensation: Dispense medications to clients and provide clear, accurate dosing instructions for prescribed treatments.
Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels of medical and consumable items, manage orders, and ensure timely reordering. Maintain accurate inventory records.
Record Keeping: Accurately maintain clinical and office records, ensuring proper filing and efficient use of the computer system.
Stock Management & Audits: Submit Stock Take Reports for Consumables by the 25th and for Medicines by the last working day of each month.
Minimum of SPM.
Certificate in Veterinary Nursing is an advantage.
Required computer literacy: Basic.
Preferably 1 year of experience in a veterinary clinic; however, candidates with no experience but a positive attitude will be considered.
Animal handling skills will be an advantage.
Ability to follow instructions independently and under supervision.
Strong communication skills and exceptional client care abilities.
Comfortable with handling and restraining both dogs and cats.
Willingness to work in shifts, including weekends.
