Wilhelmsen Ship Management has a strong track record in the management of various types of gas vessels and is currently managing 40 of those globally under a diverse portfolio of LNG Steam, LNG Motor, LNG Bunker vessels, LNG FSRUs, LPG VLGCs, and LPG MGCs.

We are currently looking for a Vessel Manager with extensive LPG experience to join our team. This position will be located at Kuala Lumpur Sentral (Menara 1 Sentral), and it is easy to get to by public transportation as it is located at the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Main Responsibilities

  • The Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient, and environmentally conscious operation of the vessels assigned, typically 3-5 Gas vessels, mainly LPG (VLGC, LGIP).
  • Ensure vessel/s comply with all relevant rules & regulations with special emphasis on the ISM code, the ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 standards, as well as flag state, port state, and the industry's special requirements and regulations, and render support to ships as appropriate.
  • During the absence of a Vessel Manager, the Fleet Manager in the respective Group assumes the responsibility or delegates another backup vessel manager.
  • Provide support on matters related to technical operations as required.
  • Keep technical statistics.
  • Attend to additional duties as decided during the annual employee dialogue.
  • Analyze and respond to Undesired Events.
  • Participate in the evaluation of Shipboard Management Systems Review.
  • Arrange Management Reviews and ensure actions decided upon are implemented.

Accountabilities

  • The position will be measured against safe and incident-free operation of the assigned vessels and in line with WSM and Client KPIs.

Qualifications

Mandatory requirements:

  • Technical/maritime qualifications with one year of seagoing experience as Motor Chief Engineer, preferably on LPG vessels.
  • (or)
  • Maritime degree with shore-based experience as vessel manager of LPG vessels and/or LNG.
  • Good command of oral and written English.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Environmental focus.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills to develop close relationships with shipboard staff, vessel owners, charterers, as well as internal and external support functions.
