Job description

Job Description is as follows:

Position: Project Assistant

The Project Assistant will support the Protected Area Manager by undertaking activities related to fieldwork on forest restoration and camera trapping study, paper works/literature review on the development of water catchment management and protected areas management, under the Ulu Muda project. The tasks may include, but are not limited to:

Fieldwork: Assisting in the organization and preparation of field equipment before, during, and after fieldwork. Assisting in the implementation of fieldwork as outlined under UM-SIG and PMTC, such as:

Forest restoration
Camera trapping study at CFS K-PL1 area

Project-Related Documentation Support:

Paper works/literature reviews as needed.
Formatting documents
Drafting letters, meeting notes, and Back to Office Reports (BTORs).

Assist in conducting field projects and activities aimed at establishing new protected areas within the PMTC priority sites primarily in Ulu Muda Forest Complex.

Collect data from the field as per the standard survey data form, timely organization (key in) of the data, record keeping as well as extracting relevant information necessary.

Assist in the management of project field office as well as camping equipment and the assets such as camera traps, binoculars, handheld cameras, and any other items deemed important for fieldwork.

Assist the project manager in engaging and building rapport with the stakeholders such as plantation and resort owners, and specifically with the local and Indigenous communities to understand the land use and contribute towards the management effectiveness of the Ulu Muda Forest Complex.

Contract: 6-12 months

Salary Range: RM1,500 to RM2,000
