Trademark Executive cum Paralegal

Position Overview

As an intellectual property paralegal, you will play a crucial role in supporting our legal team in all matters related to trademarks, patents, copyrights and other intellectual property issues. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills and a passion for intellectual property law.

• Preparing and handling all aspects of Intellectual Property applications including trademarks, patents, industrial designs and copyrights;
• Conduct comprehensive trademark searches and assist in the clearance of new trademarks;
• Providing pre-filing advice, preparing applications, handling opposition and other related contentious trademark matters;
• Assisting research and preparation of advice for clients on various aspects of intellectual property including patents, trademarks, industrial designs and copyright.
• Liaising with foreign associates for intellectual property filings outside Malaysia;
• Attending to queries and correspondences from clients;
• Maintain accurate and up to date records of intellectual property matters;
• Monitor and enforce intellectual property rights, including drafting cease and desist letters and handling infringement matters;
• Liaising with the relevant government authorities in respect of enforcement of intellectual property rights;
• Assist in drafting and reviewing contracts, licensing agreements, and other legal documents related to intellectual property;
• Conduct comprehensive legal research to support ongoing cases;
• Assist in planning and executing investigations, ensuring all activities comply with legal standards and protocols;
• Other related ad-hoc duties as assigned from time to time.

Requirements

• LLB degree with above average results from reputable universities;
• Preferably minimum of two (2) to three (3) years’ experience in the intellectual property field;
• Excellent command of written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia. Proficiency in any other languages will be an advantage;
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic IT knowledge;
• Strong understanding of trademark and intellectual property laws and procedures;
• Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple deadlines;
• Proficient in legal research and document management;
• Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities with a keen attention to detail;
• Good interpersonal and communication skills;
• Enjoy working in a team environment;
• Able to work independently, possesses a high level of responsibility, commitment and meticulousness.
