Job description

The Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting a wide range of equipment, machinery, or systems depending on the industry. This role ensures that all technical equipment and systems operate efficiently, with minimal downtime, by performing preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs.

The Technician will also provide technical support to the team and may work with external contractors or suppliers to ensure the best performance of equipment.

THE JOB SCOPE

  • Perform regular preventive maintenance and repairs on hotel systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Respond to guest room and public area maintenance requests promptly and efficiently, ensuring minimal disruption to guests.
  • Troubleshoot and repair issues with heating, cooling, electrical, and water systems.
  • Repair or replace faulty components such as pumps, motors, plumbing fixtures, and other equipment as necessary.
  • Conduct routine inspections of equipment and systems to ensure everything is in good working order.
  • Perform scheduled inspections and maintenance on all critical hotel equipment (e.g., elevators, fire alarms, backup power systems).
  • Monitor the condition of all systems and take proactive measures to avoid breakdowns.
  • Assist in maintaining guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas, ensuring that all systems are functioning to guest satisfaction.
  • Respond to work orders for room repairs, ensuring rooms meet the highest standards of cleanliness and functionality.
  • Perform tasks such as adjusting thermostats, repairing light fixtures, and troubleshooting in-room appliances.
  • Ensure that all hotel facilities comply with local regulations and safety standards, including fire safety, environmental regulations, and building codes.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and parts replaced.
  • Work closely with other hotel departments such as housekeeping, front desk, and food and beverage to ensure guest needs are met and maintenance is completed in a timely manner.
  • Assist with managing contractors or external vendors when needed for major repairs or installations.
  • Be on call for emergency repairs and situations, including water leaks, electrical outages, and system malfunctions that require immediate attention.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in maintenance or engineering roles, preferably within the hospitality industry.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair various types of hotel equipment and systems.
  • Good understanding of local building codes and safety regulations.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with other departments and assist guests.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical certification or degree in engineering or a related field (HVAC or electrical) is preferred.
