Job Responsibilities:

• Visionary Chapter Leadership & Technology Strategy: Leads the development and execution of the Chapter Vision collaboratively, aligning with broader enterprise goals while driving a forward-looking, scalable technology strategy focused on resilience and adaptability.
• Technology Stack Selection & Future-Readiness: Orchestrates the evaluation and implementation of modern, composable technology stacks, positioning the organization to transition from legacy systems (e.g., IBM mainframes) to modular, cloud-ready architectures.
• Technical Authority & Hands-on Expertise: Operates as a hands-on technical leader with deep coding experience, enforcing engineering discipline through domain-specific best practices, governance, and technology standards across teams.
• Mentorship, Talent Development & Ecosystem Cultivation: Provides thought leadership to inspire, attract, and retain engineering talent by nurturing a broad, connected network of practitioners internally and externally, emphasizing mentorship over managerial ownership.
• Capability Building Over Application Ownership: Focuses on building organizational engineering capabilities—driving enablement, upskilling, and long-term sustainability—rather than controlling application portfolios or delivery pipelines.
• Strategic Technical Roadmapping & Transformation Guidance: Develops and communicates a comprehensive strategy roadmap to guide chapter-level technical execution, including technology convergence, simplification, and modern tooling adoption.
• Mainframe Modernization & Backend Leadership: Leads the modernization and migration from legacy IBM mainframes, overseeing all backend development, integration, and transaction processing functions, with a focus on performance tuning and operational excellence.
• Cross-Platform Integration & Data Flow Management: Ensures robust and efficient backend integration between mainframe environments and distributed systems, managing data pipelines, interface compatibility, and transactional reliability across platforms.
• Engineering Culture & Process Innovation: Champions a high-performance engineering culture grounded in clean code, continuous feedback, and innovation, while strategically refining the SDLC with agile, lean, and automation-first methodologies.
• Continuous Improvement via Thought Leadership & Automation: Integrates thought leadership into engineering workflows—promoting test automation, API-first design, UX enhancements, and QA excellence—to scale delivery efficiency and improve user outcomes.

Skills and Experience:

• 15+ years of proven experience in mainframe environment out of which 4+ years is in leadership roles.
• Bachelor in Computer Science and IT related.
• Mainframe Mastery: Proficient in IBM Z/OS operations and COBOL programming, with hands-on experience in utilizing mainframe tools such as ENDEVOR and EXPEDITER, and adept in mainframe API frameworks like KONG and SOLACE.
• Integration Proficiency: Skilled in enterprise integration patterns, including MQ and CFT, with the ability to leverage frameworks like SPRING BOOT for modernizing mainframe applications.
• Database and RPGLE Acumen: Capable with DB2, adept in writing and optimizing RPGLE and SQLRPGLE programs for AS400 systems.
• Legacy Systems Innovation: Demonstrated success in modernizing and integrating legacy systems with cutting-edge technology, enhancing system efficiency and business agility.
• Strong foundation in software version control systems and practices, with experience using SCM tools like Git or Bitbucket within a mainframe context.
