Job Summary:
The candidate will be responsible for qualifying and sustaining suppliers and products to meet customers’ (internal/external) needs for UCTM (Mainly Malaysia & SEA). The candidate will be required to have quality management knowledge, problem-solving, project management, and communication skills to perform supplier assessment (quality/technical), qualification, quality performance monitoring, and quality improvement activities. The candidate will conduct supplier manufacturing process audits to ensure processes are in place to produce reliable products in a repeatable manner. Project management duties include working with cross-functional teams consisting of supply chain management, manufacturing, and suppliers to provide feedback and requirements during new product/supplier qualification through to production release.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide expertise in manufacturing processes for mechanical components such as structural frames, sheet metals, and precise machined parts.
- Ensure suppliers' manufacturing processes are in place to produce reliable products; develop and audit quality control systems.
- Conduct supplier technical/quality process audits, risk assessments, and drive closure on improvement actions.
- Conduct supplier assessments (with emphasis on manufacturing capabilities and quality management systems) of new and existing suppliers.
- Review supplier quality scores for strategic suppliers periodically and drive improvement.
- Drive failure analysis on non-conformance materials caused by suppliers and closure on non-conformance reports.
- Drive first article qualification at suppliers by providing technical expertise.
- Manage supplier or product qualification projects and provide regular updates to management.
- Provide supplier quality executive summaries on a regular basis to SMT management.
- Interface with internal customers on quality issues and actively participate in failure analysis and corrective action efforts.
- Provide technical/quality training to suppliers.
- Travel to suppliers for on-site audits and meetings (< 30%).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- CWI certified.
- Hands-on experience with ISO 9001 or equivalent quality management systems and tools.
- Experience or knowledge of standard fabrication practices of structural frames, sheet metal fabrication, and precision machining processes.
- Expertise in mechanical drawing interpretation using ASME Y14.5 (Dimensioning & Tolerance).
- Hands-on experience in supplier assessment, qualification, audit, and quality management.
- Strong passion and aptitude for problem-solving in a collaborative team environment.
- Good written and verbal communication of technical content in English.
- Project management skills.
- Hands-on knowledge of problem-solving methodologies (8D, 5 whys, DOE, etc.) and quality engineering experience.
- Working knowledge of SPC programs such as Minitab is desired.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Software – Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Educational/Certification Requirement:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
- ASQ CQA, CQT, or CQE certification preferred.
- Certified Welding Engineering is mandatory.
Experience Requirement:
- 5+ years of related experience in high-technology manufacturing, preferably in semiconductor fabrication equipment or related industry.

Overnight Travel:
- Work may require out-of-town travel depending upon assignment (auditing, training, and meetings).
