Job Summary

What is the opportunity? Our client is a specialist provider of asset services, custody, payments, and treasury services. Founded in 1864, they are the 10th largest bank worldwide and the 5th in North America, as measured by market capitalization.

Our client has a processing centre of operational excellence supporting 10 countries across three geographical time zones employing a Global Operating Model to maximize efficiencies across time zones and supports a 24/5 operational capability. The objectives for Malaysia are to enhance the scalability of their global operations, improve service quality via their ‘centres of excellence’ and to implement/leverage standardized processes globally.

What will you do?

  1. Ensure daily deliverables of Cash/asset reconciliations are completed, sign-off all checklist daily to ensure staff had followed procedure and control to complete daily reconciliations.
  2. Act as point of escalation for the team.
  3. Conduct training for the team on Cash & asset reconciliation, procedural updates, and process training to enhance teams knowledge on the process.
  4. Perform root cause analysis to drive the reduction of breaks.
  5. Cover manager during their absences.
  6. Investigate all cash and asset breaks to ensure team has correctly assigned their breaks, reducing departmental errors.
  7. Accountable for the identification and escalation process for reconciliation breaks which may represent a financial or reputational risk to the business or clients.
  8. Ensure weekly break analysis is performed and escalate when necessary for breaks that have no notes, invalid notes, and aged breaks.
  9. Responsible for updates and review of all key risk-related documents.
  10. Ensure the effective management of appropriate controls for effective management of processes, policies & procedures.
  11. Ensure regular communication with key stakeholders & oversight team.
  12. Produce and maintain statistical information, preparation of reports and analysis for decision making.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  1. 3-5 years of financial services industry experience in an operations environment.
  2. Good reconciliations knowledge.
  3. Experience on Custody/Shareholder services.
  4. Understanding in other functions like Entitlements, Cash Management, Transaction Management, Settlements, Fund Accounting.
  5. Ability to work under pressure and to prioritize actions.
  6. University degree in accounting/finance or business concentration or equivalent experience.
  7. PC literate in MS Office applications.
  8. Competent in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.

Nice-to-have:

  1. Competent in MS Access.
  2. Familiar with core platforms: TLM, FOCUS, Milvus, Multifonds, SARA.
