Job description

Managing a small team of buyers, and responsible for on time delivery per request to ensure supply continuity while maintaining inventory control at a reasonable level. The position requires monitoring and driving improvements in suppliers’ performance, maintaining effective communication internally and externally, and strengthening the core competence of AE’s business relationship with suppliers. Duties include but are not limited to achieving favorable results, maintaining systems correctly and timely, and completing tasks and assignments within the required time period. The role provides assistance in various purchasing assignments and planning of lower to medium value production materials under limited supervision.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Manage a small team of buyers, train, support, and monitor each buyer’s performance and compliance with company guidelines.
  • Implement procurement systems and tools to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Educate suppliers on performance measurements and continuous improvements.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their requirements and align procurement activities with organizational goals.
  • Evaluate and monitor supplier quality and delivery performance against corporate zero defects and on-time delivery objectives, and work with related teams to improve performance.
  • Develop a good working knowledge of materials and sources of supply to make purchases at prices consistent with quantity and quality requirements and within established standard costs.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of assigned commodities/suppliers, technologies, manufacturing processes, and related industries to effectively expedite results.
  • Purchase parts/materials using Requests for Quotes (RFQ) and Request for Information (RFI), negotiation, contracts, cost analysis, price analysis, and internal/external technical expertise.
  • Maintain great communication with suppliers via daily emails, phone calls, or conference calls regarding delivery issues, DMR issues, GR issues, quality issues, payment issues, or others until resolved.
  • Responsible for maintaining data integrity in the system in a timely manner.
  • Work within optimum inventory levels and reschedule with suppliers as necessary.
  • Adhere to organizational requirements on quality management, health and safety, code of conduct, legal stipulations, environmental policies, and general duty of care.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT :

  • Works in a standard office environment and uses general office equipment (telephone, PC, copier, fax machine, etc.).
  • Overtime work may be required.
  • Fast-paced and pressurized environment.
  • Travel may be required infrequently.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Excellent organizational and negotiation skills.
  • Flexibility to handle changing conditions.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

EXPERIENCE :

  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in manufacturing and/or related fields of business or engineering or Supply Chain (Purchasing/Planning).
  • Good knowledge of SAP.
  • Experience as a Buyer in the semiconductor industry or contract manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing a group of direct material buyers or leading a commodity group.
  • Familiarity with procurement systems and procedures.
  • Ability to provide reasonable recommendations for improvement and enhance communication/business dealings.
  • Knowledge of vendor management and inventory management systems.
  • An analytical mind with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Preferably knowledgeable in using Power BI, Tableau, Macros, etc.

EDUCATION :

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration / Purchasing / Logistics / Material Management or equivalent education and/or experience.
