UCT is looking for a talented Sr NPI Program Manager to join us in Malaysia! The NPI Senior Manager is responsible for the delivery of a large portfolio of program transfers/launches, governance, process and methodology used to launch products into UCT’s manufacturing sites, and continuous improvement of processes, methods and employee training to strive to operate at the highest possible performance levels.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of NPI project/program managers from different sites to effectively deliver into manufacturing our customer’s products by following the NPI phase gate process.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement through regular process reviews & Kaizen and structured training.
- Achieve improved operational excellence in delivery and increased early warning of issues and challenges, to allow enough time to solve or mitigate.
- Manage and communicate departmental workload with other HOD to ensure the ability to staff and manage new opportunities with minimal impact on the organization.
- Manage the outward communication of department & project status, both to internal and external executives.
- Perform training on internal processes.
- Be a corporate advocate for structured program management.
- Drive Tactical Objectives: Ensure strict adherence to process, drive departmental standardization by developing and deploying tools and forms that provide increasing value to the company, audit/evaluate program risks, ensure appropriate levels of support is committed from Cross Functional leadership, be first line of escalation for issues at the program level, and drive accountability within the department, intercompany, and with customers.
- Ensure that specific project and program objectives are defined for areas of responsibility, and that necessary preliminary activities (e.g., determination of outcomes, milestones, viability studies, and resource planning) are completed to allow for effectiveness and focus during later stages of completion.
- Ensure that all projects and programs assigned are completed in accordance with predetermined requirements, with specific attention to product/process specifications, project/program costs, resource utilization, and timeliness for completion.
- Ensure that all phases of project, program and/or process development are documented and that information required in other functional areas is reported, disseminated, or transferred, as appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with company policies including confidentiality, trade compliance, ISO, safety and others as required.
- Effectively assign work to subordinate staff, providing for professional development in addition to maximum productivity for the area.
- Responsible for departmental budgets and spending requirements.
- Responsible for project KPI.
- Generate report for weekly and monthly review.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Individuals at this level must have well-developed program management skills and preferably are professionally certified (PMP, Prince 2 or equivalent).
- Requires strong skills in change management, problem solving, written and verbal communications, customer orientation, global business perspective, personal effectiveness, team skills, and applying quality management systems.
- Demonstrated ability required in team management and leadership.
- Requires knowledge of systems and software necessary to perform specific job function such as:
- Office productivity: MS Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Smartsheet.
- Program management such as MS Project or preferably an Enterprise Portfolio Management System.
- PLM such as Agile.
- Business and operations tools such as SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems.
- Familiarity with ISO/QS 9000 quality system.
Educational/Certification Requirement:
- BS level degree in an appropriate technical discipline, or equivalent.
- An advanced level degree (MS/PhD) in the specific discipline to be managed preferred.
- PMI certification or equivalent is strongly desired.
Experience Requirement:
Work Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in Project/Program management.
- 5+ years in engineering in diverse roles and prior demonstrated success in specific area of responsibility preferred.
Management Experience:
- 3 + years direct management of Program Managers as well as matrix management of program teams.
- 8+ yrs of managing a multi-tier, multi-site Program management is preferred.
