JOB DESCRIPTION – SPANISH TEACHER (WITH ART)

The International School @ ParkCity, Kuala Lumpur (www.isp.edu.my) is located in the exclusive residential area of Desa ParkCity, Kuala Lumpur (www.desaparkcity.com). The school opened in September 2011 and quickly established itself as a dynamic and exciting place for children to learn. In our recent International Schools Quality Mark (ISQM) accreditation, we reached the highest possible overall grading, achieving Gold Level status after being identified as outstanding in all 8 standards during the accreditation visit.

We are seeking to appoint a Teacher of Spanish who is also capable of teaching a small amount of Art to Key Stage 3 students. (The successful candidate will be well supported by the current Art Department). In the second year of the contract, the successful candidate will focus on their specialist subject.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. The teaching of Spanish to students in the age range 8 -18 years.
  2. The teaching of some Art lessons to students in the age range 11-14 years.
  3. Managing an effective, orderly and safe learning environment.
  4. Motivating children to be passionate about Spanish and Creative Arts.
  5. Developing formulated schemes of work.
  6. Keeping detailed records of progress of individual students.
  7. Differentiating class work as necessary to meet the differing ability needs of all children.
  8. Reporting to parents in accordance with the agreed guidelines.
  9. Working as part of a team with other members of the Foreign Language and Art Departments.
  10. Liaising with the Student Support Team with regard to individual students who may have exceptional needs, to ensure that those needs are understood, planned for and met.
  11. Attending and contributing to meetings of a professional nature as and when required.
  12. Contributing to the strengthening of the parent-teacher partnership in individual and whole school initiatives as and when required.
  13. Be prepared to take on a pastoral role in the school in the form of a Form Tutor, and fulfilling the responsibilities of that position.
  14. Developing cross-curricular links and providing opportunities for students to develop and apply their Language and Art skills.
  15. Making a positive contribution to the development of the School.
  16. Actively supporting the ethos of the school.

Other Responsibilities:
Actively support and adhere to the Child Protection Policy, including attending the annual training.
