Job description

Job Summary
The Solar Design Engineer will be responsible for designing, planning, and optimizing photovoltaic (PV) systems for commercial, industrial, and large-scale solar projects. This includes analyzing project requirements, creating detailed layouts, and ensuring compliance with local regulations and standards to deliver efficient, cost-effective, and sustainable solar energy solutions. At the same time, assisting and supporting to do tenders and proposals.

1. System Design and Engineering

  1. Design PV systems including module layouts, electrical schematics, and system components.
  2. Perform electrical calculations (e.g., cable sizing, voltage drop, and inverter selection).

2. Site Analysis and Feasibility Studies

  1. Conduct site visits to gather data on shading, roof conditions, and other critical factors.
  2. Evaluate the technical feasibility of potential solar installations.

3. Project Documentation

  1. Prepare detailed engineering drawings, single-line diagrams (SLDs), and bill of materials (BOM).
  2. Create project documentation, including permits, proposals, and compliance reports.

4. Regulatory and Standards Compliance

  1. Ensure designs meet local codes, grid requirements, and safety standards.
  2. Work closely with utility companies for interconnection approvals.

5. Collaboration and Coordination

  1. Provide technical support to sales teams for preparing proposals and tenders.
  2. Assist in troubleshooting during the construction and commissioning phases.

6. Software and Tools

  1. Utilize design tools such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, and electrical design software.
  2. Stay updated with new technologies and tools to improve design efficiency.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
  2. 2-5 years of experience in solar system design.
  3. Proficiency in PV design software like PVsyst, HelioScope, or SolarEdge Designer.
  4. Strong understanding of electrical systems, including inverters, transformers, and grid connectivity.
  5. Knowledge of international and local standards (e.g., IEC, NEC, TNB guidelines in Malaysia).
  6. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  7. Professional certifications like SEDA Malaysia Grid-Connected Photovoltaic (PV) System Design Certificate or equivalent.
  8. Experience in battery storage systems or hybrid solutions.
  9. Familiarity with project management tools like MS Project.
