About the role

We are seeking a talented and experienced Social Management Manager (Environment & Social) to join our team at West Borneo Construction Sdn Bhd in Kuching Division, Sarawak. As a full-time employee, you will play a vital role in overseeing the environmental and social aspects of our construction projects, ensuring we maintain the highest standards of sustainability and community engagement.

What you'll be doing

• Establish and implement comprehensive environmental and social management plans based on Social Environment Impact Assessment
• Monitor and report on the environmental and social performance to our Project Manager, identifying areas for improvement
• Conduct Social Management assessment and establish and implement social management plan
• Establish and implement a management plan based on Sustainability Standards
• Stay up-to-date with the latest regulations, industry standards and best practices in sustainability and community engagement
• Collaborate with our project managers and other key stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of our construction projects

What we're looking for

• A bachelor's degree or higher in environmental science, sustainability, community development or a related field
• At least 5 years relevant experience in projects related to Social Management associated with construction
• Fluent verbal and written communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia
• Good communication & presentation skills - verbally and written
• Knowledge of local regulations and customs, and good networking with community leaders and government representatives is an advantage
• Experience and in-depth knowledge of the key requirements of sustainability standards, good practices of IFC in stakeholder engagement, the Equatorial Principles, UNDRIP, and UNDSGs
• Ability to embed Sustainability Standards into the local project model, applying the International Finance Corporation best practices
