About the role

Become an integral part of our team as a Site Supervisor - Open Cut. In this dynamic role, you will oversee on-site Orica teams, plant, and ancillary equipment, ensuring compliance with service level agreements, corporate, and regulatory standards. You will lead the implementation of Orica SHES requirements, drive the complete adoption of CHECKPOINT, and uphold our Quality programs. This position offers the chance to make a significant impact, fostering a culture of safety and excellence.

This role is based at our Kulai, Johor site.

What you will be doing

• Actively manage SHES programs and ensure site compliance with Orica Standards.
• Address safety and security concerns, ensure PPE is worn, and complete Work Permits before any work.
• Report injuries and notifiable incidents immediately.
• Communicate Orica safety standards to employees, vendors, and customers.
• Ensure equipment is in safe operating condition.
• Direct SHEC and compliance activities.
• Provide analytical support to area manager to improve operational costs.
• Participate in site planning activities.

People Development:

• Recruit, train, and retain employees with key skills.
• Complete objective setting and performance evaluations.

Site Operations:

• Complete monthly inventory counts, safety meetings, audits, and update databases.
• Audit site operations for regulatory compliance and safety.
• Ensure mandatory training is completed and documented.
• Develop and supervise employees for optimal performance.
• Maintain housekeeping, record keeping, and preventative maintenance programs.
• Assist in preparing budgets and resource models.
• Manage site inventories for profitability and efficiency.
• Schedule daily employee activities and manage site operations.
• Address operational issues with the Operations Manager.
• Manage regulatory audits and inspections.

Customer Service:

• Maintain and grow Orica accounts, ensuring customer satisfaction.
• Communicate with customers to improve Orica services.
• Keep existing accounts in good standing.

What you will bring

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• At least 5 years of experience in blasting operations.
• More than 5 years of experience managing a team.
• Thorough knowledge of Safety, Health, and Environmental standards.
• Ability to work effectively with a multi-cultural team.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and other applicable regulations.
• Strong mechanical comprehension of equipment operation and maintenance.
