Site Safety Supervisor

About the role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Site Safety Supervisor to join our team at MAKEEN ENERGY MALAYSIA SDN. BHD. in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan. As a Site Safety Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and environmental compliance of our operations on-site. This is a full-time position that requires a strong commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards.

What you'll be doing

• Assist in the coaching, mentoring and implementation of the HSE programs in the field.
• Regularly review and be familiar with all applicable legislation and applicable standards, to ensure compliance.
• Ensure all workers are physically fit and medically certified for employment by the client-appointed Occupational Health Doctor (OHD).
• Review contract HSE Plan for facility management to ensure a safe work environment for all company employees, contractors, visitors, and the community.
• Regularly audit the HSE plan for compliance and update to ensure alignment with site scope and conditions.
• Organize and schedule required safety staff and first aid coverage.
• Ensure that all incidents are reported immediately to the client and management.
• Participate and assist the management team in the investigation of incidents to determine root causes and corrective actions where necessary.
• Ensure incident corrective actions are followed up on and completed.
• Ensure injured workers are offered modified duties and documentation has been completed.
• Monitor and follow up on modified workers in the field.
• Review safety obligations of the clients and ensure they are carried out as per the terms of the agreement, and communicated to the Plant Manager, Engineers, HR, and Supervisors.
• Ensure safety boards with postings including but not limited to: Health and safety policy, inspection and audit results, project hazard assessment, location of first aid, etc. are maintained and current.
• Communicate, coach, and assist the field staff to ensure that all safety expectations are understood and met.
• Ensure the workplace is kept clean and tidy, allocating sufficient time for housekeeping before and after work or change of shift.
• Arrange fire-fighting training for all workers.
• Conduct daily toolbox meetings prior to commencing work, ensuring all meetings are minuted and records kept for the company’s review.
• Advise various functions within locations in planning and organizing measures necessary for a safe and secure work environment, including effective prevention and control of personal injuries.
• Coordinate with customers for the HSSE committee meeting as per the OSH Act, monitoring compliance points, with a frequency of once a month.
• Conduct safety audits and coordinate/facilitate other internal and external audits as per the client HSSE KPI parameters.
• Prepare and monitor periodical compliance for various safety audits recommendations and monitor ATS reports and compliance of the points.
• Organize safety week, security week, and world environmental day (as per norms and regulations).
• Prepare and submit to appropriate authorities various periodical reports on safety, security, health, and environment including training, while maintaining all related records for reference and audits.
• Monitor and ensure appropriate administration of security measures.
• Ensure and monitor implementation of an effective work permit system with records maintained.
• During maintenance work, check and verify permits to ensure the workplace is safe and secure.
• Conduct incident/accident/near miss investigations, focusing on root causes, reporting, adoption of corrective and preventive measures, and disseminating findings/lessons learned with all concerned at the location.
• Manage materials, including purchase request preparedness, vendor management, and analyzing cost-effectiveness of materials while following management rules and regulations.
• Maintain first aid boxes with a list of medicines and relevant records.
• Ensure UCUX is prepared and monitored.
• Monitor and execute HSSE plan and emergency drills.
• Conduct emergency drills as per client KPI and provide advice in terms of HSSE during emergencies.
• Ensure environmental management is in place (e.g., scheduled waste, effluent discharge, etc.).
• Perform other duties as required by Management or the Plant Manager.

What we're looking for

• Possess a valid Site Safety Supervisor (SSS) Competency License registered with DOSH / JKKP - Yellow book.
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Site Safety Supervisor or in a similar role within the engineering, industrial, or oil & gas industry.
• A strong understanding of relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with all levels of personnel.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and experience with safety management software.
• A relevant safety-related certification or diploma, such as OSHA or NEBOSH certification.
• A proactive, problem-solving mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Additional information

• Work location will be in Port Dickson.
• Willing to travel if required.
• Working hours: Monday to Saturday, with alternate off days on Saturday, normal working hours.
