Job description

Job Title: Service Technician / Engineer

Department: Service & Support

Reports To: Service Manager / Team Lead

Summary:

This position is responsible for providing on-site and remote technical support to customers for a range of products and services. This includes troubleshooting, installation, calibration, repair, and preventative maintenance. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated and customer-oriented individual with strong technical skills and a proven ability to resolve complex issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical issues with customer equipment remotely and on-site.
  2. Installations: Install, configure, and test new equipment at customer locations.
  3. Calibrations: Perform routine and on-demand calibrations of equipment to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  4. Repairs: Repair and maintain existing equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  5. Preventative Maintenance: Conduct routine preventative maintenance inspections and service calls to minimize equipment downtime.
  6. Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to all clients, including clear and concise communication, timely responses, and a professional demeanor.
  7. Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed service records, including work orders, repair reports, and customer interactions.
  8. Travel: Travel to customer sites as required, which may include overnight stays.
  9. On-call support: Participate in on-call rotation for emergency service requests.
  10. Stay updated: Keep abreast of the latest product releases, technical advancements, and industry best practices.
  11. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  2. Experience: 2+ years of experience in field service, technical support, or a related role.
  3. Technical Skills: Strong understanding of electronics, electrical systems, and troubleshooting techniques. Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
  4. Software Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Experience with industry-specific software and databases is a plus.
  5. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to clearly explain technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  6. Customer Service Skills: Strong customer service orientation with a focus on customer satisfaction.
  7. Problem-solving Skills: Ability to analyze complex problems, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions.
  8. Time Management Skills: Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  9. Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers and colleagues.
