About the role

We are looking for a high-impact, autonomous UX leader to shape Jora’s user experience strategy, drive product innovation, and implement at pace.

As one of our most senior UX designers on the team, you will:

1. Define and drive UX strategy, ensuring user needs and business priorities are aligned and actionable.
2. Work autonomously—owning your priorities, self-managing your workload, and making critical UX decisions with confidence.
3. Balance vision, research, and execution—knowing when to drive innovation and when to focus on fast, high-quality delivery.
4. Deliver at pace, ensuring UX is not a bottleneck for product development, even on epic-scale initiatives.
5. Elevate the UX team, mentoring and guiding mid-level designers to work more effectively and independently.
6. Influence product and engineering teams, ensuring UX is a strategic partner in shaping Jora’s roadmap and execution.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Influence

1. Lead UX efforts for high-impact initiatives, ensuring designs are scalable, accessible, and business-aligned.
2. Own and evolve UX strategy, using data, research, and experimentation to inform product direction.
3. Advocate for user-centred decision-making, while ensuring UX contributes to business goals and product outcomes.

Execution at Speed & Scale

1. Deliver fast—working efficiently in a high-velocity, high-stakes environment without sacrificing quality.
2. Manage UX for epic deliveries, balancing research, iteration, and execution in parallel.
3. Work across multiple platforms (web, mobile, and new technologies) with a deep understanding of responsive, scalable design.

Autonomy & Team Uplift

1. Operate independently, identifying high-value UX opportunities and acting on them without waiting for direction.
2. Mentor and support mid-level designers, helping them become more autonomous and capable.
3. Refine UX processes, ensuring the team operates at peak efficiency and quality.

Essential Skills and Experience

UX Leadership & Business Alignment

1. Senior-level UX expertise, with a track record of driving strategy, execution, and multi-functional collaboration.
2. Ability to align UX with business priorities.
3. Experience working in high-growth, fast-moving environments, where UX must move at the speed of business needs.

Autonomy & Execution

1. Works independently, self-managing priorities and proactively identifying high-value design opportunities.
2. Able to deliver high-quality UX at pace, handling epic-scale product deliveries without slowing down execution.
3. Strong decision-making skills, able to balance quick iterations with thoughtful, research-backed design.

Influence & multi-functional Collaboration

1. Influences and collaborates effectively, ensuring UX is a key driver of product success.
2. Comfortable facilitating workshops, discussions, and UX alignment with product, engineering, and business teams.
3. Is able to challenge when required, standing up for design choices while maintaining a practical and thoughtful approach.

Technical UX Expertise

1. Expert in UI/UX design, interaction design, accessibility, and usability best practices.
2. Experience designing for web and mobile at scale, ensuring consistency and reusability.
3. Strong grasp of UX research methodologies, using insights to drive improvements.
