We are currently seeking a Senior Subsea Engineer to join our team based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
About The Job
- Ability to supervise and function within a design team and across multiple projects.
- Demonstrates ability to work within time/budget constraints.
- Manage interfaces within a project structure, including other disciplines, drawing office, document control, project management, client and suppliers.
- Ability to inform team members and identify changes to scope and promptly raise change notifications, including providing any necessary supporting documentation and estimates.
- Manage technical design scope (full or partial) and ensure technical compliance and quality as well as on-time delivery of engineering deliverables.
- Assist lead engineer in the overall execution of the subsea engineering for proposals and projects.
- Provide technical support and engineering solutions with sound technical understanding of subsea system application and principles, including construction, installation and operational aspects.
- Independently perform structural design and analysis and supervise junior engineers performing structural engineering design and analysis.
- Extensive familiarity with recognised industry engineering software for analyses (SACS, ABAQUS).
- Undertake design and detailing in accordance with acknowledged industry Codes, Standards and Design Guides (DNV, ISO, API, ASME), Client Specifications and Scopes of Work.
- Undertake responsibility for production of project deliverables, which may include design basis, construction drawings, design calculations, technical specifications, datasheets, procedures, stress analyses reports, material take-offs, weight control reports, RFQ documentations, bid evaluation reports, feasibility and study reports and various 3rd-party submissions.
- Perform review of design and technical documentations to demonstrate sound technical compliance and acceptable performance of subsea application.
- Attend project meetings, vendor meetings, engineering meetings and interface meetings, as required.
- Assist lead engineer in developing in-house design tools as part of continuous improvement initiative.
- Ensure all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed.
- Demonstrate commitment to safety and quality through participation in safety and quality initiatives.
- Support, mentor and develop junior engineers.
Main Accountabilities
- Effective planning of subsea engineering activities for projects from schedule & budget perspective.
- Ability to work closely with Lead Engineers, Project Management, Multi-discipline Engineers in the forecasting, scheduling of deliverables, drawings and overall project support.
- In depth knowledge of various structure design codes and specifications.
- Piping knowledge is a plus.
- Good computer skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and MathCad.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD is a plus.
- Should possess and demonstrate good analytical skills and computer simulation skills.
- Must have good communication, writing, and presentation skills, and an excellent work ethic and work attitude; organizational skills are a must.
- Must interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate assignments.
- Must also be a team player.
- A positive attitude towards developing and training the subsea engineering team.
- Innovation with the ability to analyse and solve problems outside of base role.
About You
Must have Qualifications & Experience:
- BSc. Civil / Structural / Mechanical Engineering (MSc preferred) with minimum 5 years of industry experience.
- Experience in supervising and performing FEED and detailed design activities associated with subsea and pipeline structures.
- Interfacing with offshore pipeline engineering is a plus.
- Preferable to have knowledge and good understanding of SPS and/or SURF equipment from system level in the FEED and detailed design phases.
- Experience in field development and conceptual study for subsea development is a plus.
- Extensive experience with recognized industry software packages and tools for subsea structure design (SACS, Autopipe).
- Experience on non-linear finite element analysis using ABAQUS or similar software is a plus.
- Experience in technical engineering support to other departments within the Discipline/Product Engineering Group, and the Project Engineering Group, and to colleagues in the form of training and mentoring.
