Get to know the role:

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer with experience in development or automation to serve as a senior member of our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and leading high-quality security automation systems that protect Grab’s extensive infrastructure, which includes 800+ application services, 2,000+ databases, a multi-cloud environment spanning three providers, and over 750 million database IOPS daily. Your work will play a critical role in strengthening the security of Grab’s internal operational processes at scale.

This role is onsite based in our Petaling Jaya, Malaysia office.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform:

1. Design, implement, and maintain secure, accurate and reliable security platforms.

2. Interface with production engineering management to champion and ensure adoption of security standards and remediate security gaps.

3. Contribute to the building, operating and maintaining of the overall security infrastructure and services to improve Grab's prevent, detect and response capabilities.

4. Lead a sub-discipline (cloud security, security operations, devsecops, security automation, and security architecture) within the Security Engineering team.

5. Own and ensure that internal and external SLA’s meet and exceed expectations, Security Engineering centric KPIs are continuously monitored and improved.

6. Create tools for automating deployment, monitoring and operations of the overall security platform.

7. Participate in on-call rotation to provide infrastructure support, incident management, and troubleshooting.

8. Provide ongoing maintenance and support of internal tools, improve system health and reliability.

What Essential Skills You Will Need:

1. Comfortable to code in at least one high-level programming language - JavaScript, Java, Python or Golang for scripting and automation.

2. You have a proven track record of designing, developing, and implementing large-scale, available online services.

3. You have solid Computer Science fundamentals in algorithms and data structures.
