Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Reservoir Engineer to join our team and play a critical role in the development, optimization, and management of reservoir models. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in integrating dynamic, geological, and petrophysical data to ensure accurate reservoir modeling and optimize production strategies. This position requires expertise in material balance analysis, history matching, dynamic reservoir simulation, and the application of uncertainty and sensitivity analysis to improve reservoir management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Transfer and Quality Control (QC):
- Gather and validate dynamic data, including historical production data, pressure data, well events, and production allocation.
- Perform quality control on various datasets to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency across all inputs.
- Analyze fluid pressure gradients, fluid contacts, reservoir connectivity, and pressure transient analysis from RFT/MDT/DST data, both pre- and post-production.
- Assess parameters such as Kh, skin factor, reservoir boundaries, and productivity to understand reservoir performance.
- Integrate findings with geological and petrophysical data to create a comprehensive model of reservoir behavior.
- PVT Data Management:
- Perform quality control on PVT data, including fluid samples, gas composition, and CGR values.
- Develop and review Equation of State (EOS) models based on valid PVT data, ensuring accurate assignment to fault blocks and sand units (PVTNUM) before integrating into dynamic models.
- Core Data and SCAL Interpretation:
- Review and interpret SCAL and DST data to derive key input parameters for reservoir simulation and material balance calculations, ensuring accurate and relevant data is used.
- Material Balance Analysis:
- Conduct material balance analyses to predict withdrawal rates, assess reservoir behavior, and estimate reserves based on in-place hydrocarbon resource volumes derived from geological studies.
- Develop dynamic reservoir models using geological and petrophysical deliverables.
- Initialize and calibrate models, ensuring accurate initial pressure and saturation values, with a volumetric difference between static and dynamic models within ±5%.
- Perform history matching to ensure the dynamic model aligns with historical production, well productivity, pressure, and saturation data pre- and post-production.
- Production Optimization & Forecasting:
- Use dynamic models to predict recovery efficiency, optimize depletion strategies, and evaluate tertiary recovery methods.
- Identify remaining reserves, assess undrained potential, and optimize current depletion mechanisms.
- Review and update the Reservoir Management Plan (RMP) based on model results.
- Uncertainty and Sensitivity Analysis:
- Conduct uncertainty analyses and sensitivity studies to improve model accuracy and guide decision-making in reservoir management.
- Use sensitivity analysis to assess the impact of various parameters on model performance and optimization.
- Material Balance Calibration:
- Calibrate material balance models with results from dynamic reservoir simulations to ensure consistency and accuracy in forecasting reservoir performance.
- Wellbore Modeling:
- Develop wellbore models that integrate fluid characteristics, reservoir inflow performance, and vertical lift profiles to optimize well design and performance.
- Collaborate with other engineering teams to refine well design based on modeling results.
- Field Network Modeling:
- Integrate results from material balance, wellbore modeling, and production system design to evaluate optimal production rates.
- Assess the impact of pipeline constraints, well design, and production system parameters on overall reservoir management and performance.
- Integration with Geoscience Teams:
- Collaborate with geology, geophysics, and petrophysics teams to review sand correlation, depositional maps, reservoir connectivity, and compartmentalization before constructing static models.
- Coordinate on facies modeling, rock type assignment, and integrate geological data into dynamic reservoir models.
- Integration of Static and Dynamic Models:
- Ensure seamless integration of static and dynamic models by aligning material balance volumes with static model volumes to provide a unified understanding of reservoir performance and optimization.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Reservoir Engineering, or a related field (advanced degrees preferred).
- Minimum 15 years of experience as a reservoir engineer in the oil and gas industry, with a strong focus on reservoir modeling, simulation, and dynamic analysis.
- At least 10 years of experience working on Dynamic Simulation projects, including history matching, production forecasting, and optimization strategies.
- At least 10 years of experience in exploration and petroleum development projects within the past 15 years, with a focus on reservoir management and simulation.
- Minimum 10 years of specific experience working in Malaysian basins, with a strong understanding of regional geology and geophysical data.
- Experience with PVT analysis, fluid behavior modeling, pressure transient analysis, and core data interpretation.
- Involved in at least five (05) Field Development Planning projects.
- Proven experience in reservoir simulation, modeling, and material balance analysis, including the use of industry-standard software (e.g., Nexus, Eclipse, CMG, or similar).
- Strong understanding of geological, petrophysical, and geophysical data integration to build robust reservoir models.
- Expertise in wellbore modeling, field network modeling, and optimization techniques to improve well and system performance.
- Proficiency in uncertainty analysis, sensitivity analysis, and optimization studies to refine models and inform decision-making.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment, particularly with geoscience and engineering teams.
