Senior R&D Chemist – Personal Care

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Chemist to join our Research & Development (R&D) team, specializing in the formulation and development of personal care and home care products. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cosmetic chemistry and household product formulations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and working to develop innovative, high-quality products.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Formulate and develop new personal care (e.g., skincare, haircare, body care) and home care (e.g., cleaning, laundry) products.
2. Conduct product stability tests and performance evaluations to ensure safety, effectiveness, and shelf-life.
3. Research new ingredients and stay updated on trends and innovations in the personal and home care industries.
4. Collaborate with the marketing, packaging, and quality control teams to ensure product alignment with consumer needs and brand objectives.
5. Ensure all products comply with regulatory standards (e.g., REACH, FDA, and other relevant guidelines).
6. Develop technical documentation, including product specifications, ingredient lists, and formulation reports.
7. Optimize existing formulations to improve product performance, cost-effectiveness, or sustainability.
8. Manage the scaling-up of formulations from lab bench to manufacturing processes.
9. Troubleshoot issues in product development, ingredient sourcing, or manufacturing processes.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
2. 3-5 years of experience in formulation chemistry for personal care and home care products.
3. Strong understanding of cosmetic chemistry, surfactants, emulsifiers, preservatives, and active ingredients.
4. Familiarity with formulation software and analytical testing tools.
5. Knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g., EU Cosmetic Regulation, FDA, REACH) in personal and home care products.
6. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
7. Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.

Preferred Skills:

1. Experience with natural or organic formulations.
2. Knowledge of sustainable and eco-friendly ingredient sourcing and packaging.
3. Experience with fragrance and colorant formulation.
