Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor (QS) – Tender & Bidding Specialist

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Project Bidding Department. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience in quantity surveying, with a strong background in tendering, bidding, and cost estimation. This role requires strategic thinking, negotiation skills, and a deep understanding of contract administration within the construction industry. As a key player in our team, you will be responsible for leading tender submissions, managing project budgets, and ensuring cost efficiency. You will work closely with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to optimize project costs and enhance our bidding success rate.

Job Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the entire tendering process, ensuring accurate and timely submissions.
• Analyze tender documents, specifications, and drawings to determine project scope and pricing strategies.
• Evaluate and negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain the most competitive pricing.
• Develop and implement tender strategies to enhance bid success rates.
• Prepare detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and cost breakdowns.
• Conduct cost analysis, feasibility studies, and risk assessments for tendered projects.
• Monitor and control project costs to ensure they align with budget estimates.
• Review and interpret contract terms, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards.
• Identify potential risks in contracts and propose effective mitigation strategies.
• Assist in contract negotiations with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Project Coordination & Reporting:
  • Collaborate with project teams to track variations, claims, and progress payments.
  • Prepare progress and cost reports for management review.
  • Follow up on tender results and provide recommendations for improving future bid success.

Job Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in quantity surveying, with a strong focus on tendering and bidding.
• Skills:
  • Expertise in tender preparation, contract administration, and cost estimation.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
  • Familiarity with Malaysian construction industry regulations and CIDB requirements.
  • Excellent leadership and project coordination abilities.
• Software Knowledge: Proficiency in MS Excel, AutoCAD, CostX, or other QS-related software.
• Language: Fluency in English, Malay, and Mandarin preferred.
