Position Overview:

The Senior Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of Insulet’s Omnipod Manufacturing lines at the Malaysia Manufacturing Facility at Johor Bahru Malaysia. The Senior Production Manager will be responsible for the daily output of the Omnipod lines, conformance of line operations to cGMP practices and ensuring that all products meet Insulet quality standards. The successful candidate is expected to spend a significant portion of their day working on the manufacturing floor, focused on data analysis to drive decision making and continuous improvement activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide coaching and professional development to a team of supervisors.
  • Lead lean improvement projects and initiatives utilizing multiple sources of data to make informed decisions on how to sustainably improve output rates and reduce cost through scrap elimination.
  • Analyze, track and report performance by shift, line, and operator while developing programs and initiatives to drive performance and behaviors within the workforce.
  • Create, maintain, and publish operational score cards to drive results across the crew - including, but not limited to, key performance indicators such as build plan fulfill, Scrap, Line Efficiency, Productivity, Kanban, Training Effectiveness, First Hour Performance, and 6S/Gemba Audits.
  • Ensures that all team members are adequately trained, and activities are performed as specified in documented work instructions.
  • Formally evaluates performance of supervisors and champions professional development of the team.
  • Influences and provides idea generation / feedback / implementation support to engineering change orders and projects.
  • Coordinates all operational and engineering activities across the crew utilizing exemplary cross-functional communication skills.
  • Serve as a backup line supervisor where needed.
  • Other tasks as assigned by manager.

Education and Experience:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a management, operations, supply chain, or engineering discipline or equivalent.
  • 5 -10 years' experience managing/supervising work activities in a high-volume production environment.
  • Experience in the medical device industry is preferred.

Preferred Skills and Competencies:

  • Self-starter and adaptable, ability to be reached at all hours 24/7.
  • Familiarity with cGMP guidelines and ISO 13485 and FDA 21 CFR 820 regulations is preferred.
  • Fundamental understanding of statistics and an ability to analyze data in Excel or Minitab to draw conclusions and make decisions on how to improve problems. Advanced understanding of statistics and Six Sigma preferred.
  • Ability to present complex problems in a simple way, taking high level data to show performance improvements or to research and initiate a long-term improvement project.
  • Ability to lead projects, track progress and meet previously set timelines.
  • Proficient in moderately advanced computer and data analytic skills. Fundamental knowledge of ERP systems; SAP would be a plus.
  • Experience working in a regulated industry; Consumer products or Life Sciences preferred.
  • Hands-on experience in set-up and operation of automated production equipment preferred but not required.
  • Must be a team oriented, detailed individual. Should have a strong work ethic, self-starter and adaptable.
  • Must possess the initiative and drive for continual improvement.
  • Process oriented and uses data to make decisions.
  • Have a work style that motivates the production staff.
  • Must be able to fulfill job responsibilities in a fast-paced/high-volume production environment.
  • Multi-language fluency preferred (English, Malay, Mandarin).
