Job description

As a senior leadership role, the Plant Director is part of the highest management levels in the organisation. The Manager is responsible for developing and implementing strategies that align with the company’s short-term, mid-term, and long-term objectives and targets.

The Plant Director will collaborate with executive leadership, oversee various departments, and focus on optimising overall plant performance. They play a crucial role in decision-making, continuous improvement, and fostering a culture of prioritising the environment, health and safety, and plant efficiency. Conduct thorough market research to understand potential customers' needs, preferences, and pain points.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with the company's objectives to enhance productivity, efficiency and cost-cutting measures.
  2. Operational Oversight: To ensure smooth and efficient processes, oversee all aspects of plant operations, including production, quality assurance, plant facilities, maintenance, and logistics.
  3. Resource Management: Allocate resources effectively to meet production goals while minimising costs and maximising output.
  4. Team Development: Recruit, train, and mentor plant staff, fostering a collaborative environment focused on performance and professional growth.
  5. Performance Monitoring: Analyse production metrics and implement corrective actions to address inefficiencies or quality issues.
  6. Quality, Environment, Safety, Health, and Information Security Compliance: Ensure adherence to quality standards, environmental, health, and safety regulations, as well as industry standards. Promote a safe working environment for all employees and manage sensitive company information to remain secure.
  7. Budget Financial Management: Develop and manage the plant's budget, ensuring financial targets are met while identifying cost-reduction opportunities. Allocates resources and is accountable for the facility's financial performance and profitability.
  8. Government Grants: Identify government grants that align with MM Century’s business, project, or organisation’s goals. Ensure that every aspect of your proposal is well-prepared and aligns with the grant’s objectives.
  9. Talent Management: The Plant Director is responsible for the overall development and management of the plant's workforce, setting goals, providing guidance, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and creating a harmonious workplace.

DEPARTMENTS REPORTING TO THE PLANT DIRECTOR

  1. Human Resources: Manages recruitment, training, compliance with labour laws, and employee support.
  2. Planning: Ensures effective decision-making and resource allocation to achieve company goals.
  3. Operations: Evaluate and improve internal processes for efficiency and productivity.
  4. Logistics & Warehouse: Manages transportation costs, warehouse operations, inventory, and inbound/outbound logistics.
  5. Business Development: Conducts market analysis to identify growth opportunities and manages project profitability.
  6. Finance: Oversees financial data analysis, projections, and planning for operational and capital expenditures.
  7. Procurement & Purchasing: Reviews purchase orders, selects suppliers, increases contractor base, and verifies invoices.
  8. Quality, Environment, Safety, Health & Information Security Management: Ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations and promotes a safe and environmentally compliant working environment.
  9. Facilities, Maintenance and Engineering: Coordinates facility inspections and equipment maintenance upgrades.

  1. Leadership and Management Skills: Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a diverse team, ensuring alignment with the plant’s goals and fostering a positive work environment.
  2. Technical Knowledge and Expertise: In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, machinery, and production techniques relevant to the industry.
  3. Project Management Skills: Ability to plan and manage projects related to plant operations, including new installations, process improvements, and expansions.
  4. Problem-solving and Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse complex situations, identify root causes of issues, and develop practical solutions.
  5. Strategic Thinking and Planning: Ability to develop and implement long-term strategies for the plant that align with the company’s overall goals and objectives.
  6. People Management & Development: Ability to identify training needs and develop programs to enhance the skills and capabilities of the workforce.
  7. Technology and Systems Proficiency: Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and other software for managing production, inventory, and other plant operations.
  8. Adaptability and Resilience: Ability to adapt to changing circumstances, including fluctuations in production demand, supply chain disruptions, and technological advancements.
  9. Customer Focus: Understanding customer needs and requirements ensures that products meet quality and delivery expectations.
  10. Regulatory Compliance: Thorough understanding of industry regulations, including environmental, safety, and labour laws, and ensuring that the plant complies with these regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree (essential) or Master’s Degree (Optional but Advantageous)
