Job Description

The position of Senior Mechanical Engineer has a dynamic application to work with other team members to support mechanical design activities throughout all project life cycles including Feasibility Studies, Front End Engineering Design, Detailed Design up to Operation and Maintenance primarily for delivering water treatment solutions to the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Mining and Chemical industries. The company has a fast-growing team looking for other motivated engineers to join this exciting new opportunity as part of the company’s expansion in setting-up a new office based in Malaysia.

Key Responsibilities

1. Work closely with both Design Engineering and Operations Team to provide mechanical engineering support during design of new systems or debottlenecking of existing assets.
2. Involved in product design validation and innovation for improvement in operating performance and efficiency.
3. Development of Mechanical Engineering Deliverables for Project Execution.
4. Development of mechanical specifications and datasheets for procurement of mechanical equipment.
5. Report to Engineering Manager - Malaysia.
6. Participate in Risk Assessment, HAZOP, HAZID, JHA.
7. Coordinating contractors for builds and commissioning.

Bonus points if you have:

1. Previous experience working with engineering teams.
2. Tender Applications.
3. Project costings.
4. Contacts within the Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals and Process Industries in Asia market.

Requirements

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
2. At least 8 Year(s) of proven design experience in mechanical engineering design (vessel sizing, piping stress analysis and design validation).
3. Proficient in detailed design of pressure equipment is essential including design requirements of ASME VIII, AS1210 and PD5500.
4. Proficient CAD skills (preferably AutoCAD Plant 3D, 3D Inventor, PDMS) and FEA software.
5. Advanced analysis of mechanical and structural component with FEA would be preferable.
6. Piping design skills for generation of piping isometrics will be advantageous.
7. Knowledge of welding, testing and fabrication requirements.
8. Knowledge of corrosion, fatigue and failure analysis.
9. Experience in project management.
10. Knowledge of general industry related standards for Oil & Gas, Mining and General Industry.
11. Proactive & self-starter attitude. Learn quickly and able to adapt and work independently in Malaysia and reporting to the Australian office.
12. Familiarity with health and safety regulations – knowledge in Hazardous Area Classification requirements will be an added advantage.
13. Must have the authorization to work full time in Malaysia without any restriction.
