Overview and purpose of the position

NCIS is establishing a new Stem Cell Therapy Hub (SCTH) as part of its expansion of Specialised Programmes and to become a Reference Centre of Excellence. We are looking for a Head of Quality to lead the Quality department in the organisation.

The candidate will lead and direct all aspects of the Quality Assurance functions, including Quality Operations, Quality Management Systems, External Vendor Quality Oversight, Quality Supplier Management, Quality Compliance and Disposition, and Quality Control, for NCIS Specialised Programmes (specifically Cellular Therapy and Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant) and other provided services.

Job responsibilities

  • Responsible for establishing and overseeing Quality functions and strategies for SCTH cell therapy programs and other provided services, including but not limited to areas of quality assurance, quality control, compliance, and batch dispositions.
  • Responsible for implementation and maintenance of Quality Management Systems, ensuring compliance with policies/standards of National Specialty Centres and applicable regulations.
  • Drives performance improvement and monitors the effectiveness of QMS by identifying, defining, and establishing key quality indicators for management reviews.
  • Supports cross-functional teams in ensuring that the clinical program is conducted and reported according to applicable current GxP regulations (e.g. FDA, HSA) and standards (e.g. FACT/JACIE). In the beginning phase of the project, supports and provides quality oversight to Technology Transfer requirements for clinical trial material production.
  • Leads and inspires a strong quality organization by attracting and developing talents, and leading the implementation of talent development strategies within the organization.
  • Acts as the centre’s Quality representative to regulatory authorities and third-party inspections.
  • Alerts senior management of significant quality and compliance risks.
  • Any other responsibilities assigned by Senior Management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor/Master Degree, or higher, in Science, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Science, or equivalent, with preference for more than 10 years of relevant work experience in a Quality Lead role in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology/medical device/healthcare industry, preferably with increasing people management responsibilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of quality control, quality management systems, and validation requirements, preferably with third-party customer/supplier or vendor management experience.
  • Extensive knowledge in regulations and industrial guidance, and experience with technological transfer.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, and is task-oriented.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are advantageous.
