Senior Instrument Engineer (FPSO)

An international EPC based in KL is seeking a Senior Instrument Engineer with extensive experience in FPSO projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, engineering, and implementation of instrumentation and control systems for offshore production facilities. The role requires expertise in field instrumentation, control systems, and safety instrumented systems to ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and engineering of instrumentation systems for FPSO projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
• Develop and review P&IDs, loop diagrams, instrument data sheets, and control narratives.
• Specify and select field instrumentation, analyzers, and control valves suitable for offshore operations.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to integrate instrumentation with process and mechanical systems.
• Perform technical evaluations of vendor proposals and assist in procurement decisions.
• Develop and review I/O lists, wiring diagrams, and control system architectures.
• Ensure compliance with hazardous area classification requirements.
• Support HAZOP, SIL assessments, and functional safety studies.
• Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and startup phases of FPSO projects.
• Interface with clients, regulatory authorities, and third-party certifying bodies to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers in instrumentation design and best practices.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Control Engineering.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in instrumentation design engineering, with at least 5 years focused on FPSO projects.
• Strong knowledge of instrumentation design principles, control system architectures, and offshore regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency in engineering software such as SPI (SmartPlant Instrumentation), AutoCAD, and AVEVA Instrumentation.
• Experience with DCS, ESD, and F&G systems used in offshore oil & gas facilities.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under tight project deadlines.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills to coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
