Job description

As the Senior Finance Manager, you will play a pivotal role in guiding and optimizing the financial operations across our diverse portfolio, which spans retail, grocery, agricultural farming, and poultry processing. Your position encompasses a wide array of critical responsibilities, including overseeing financial reporting, ensuring compliance, enhancing processes, and conducting in-depth financial analysis. You will uphold stringent statutory requirements, manage budgets comprehensively, and fine-tune cash flow to support the company's financial health. Leading a talented team of finance professionals, you will drive operational efficiencies and provide strategic insights essential for accelerating the company's growth and securing its long-term financial stability.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Reporting and Compliance:
    • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor a team of accounting professionals across multiple entities and sectors, fostering their growth and ensuring high performance.
    • Report Coordination: Oversee the preparation and timely delivery of management accounting reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal standards.
    • Monthly Reviews: Review and analyze monthly management reports, preparing comprehensive financial summaries and insights to support executive decision-making.
  2. Process Improvement and Systems Enhancement:
    • Process Optimization: Continuously assess and refine financial reporting processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and data integrity.
    • Automation and Best Practices: Identify and implement automation opportunities and best practices to streamline financial reporting tasks and enhance operational effectiveness.
    • ERP Participation: Actively engage in ERP system implementation and optimization, ensuring the system meets business needs and integrates seamlessly with financial processes.
  3. Financial Analysis and Insights:
    • Performance Analysis: Provide detailed financial analysis and insights on company performance, identifying key trends, variances, and areas for operational and strategic improvement.
    • Decision Support: Supply accurate and timely financial information and forecasts to support critical business decisions and strategic initiatives.
    • Modelling and Scenario Analysis: Conduct sophisticated financial modelling and scenario analysis to evaluate the impact of potential business decisions and market changes, guiding strategic planning.
  4. Statutory and Compliance:
    • Regulatory Awareness: Stay informed about evolving accounting standards, regulations, and reporting requirements, ensuring the company's compliance.
    • Audit Management: Coordinate internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation, addressing audit findings, and ensuring adherence to financial reporting standards.
    • Tax and SST Management: Prepare and review provisional and final tax computations, ensuring timely and accurate tax reporting in collaboration with tax agents. Oversee the review and submission of Sales and Services Tax (SST) reports.
  5. Budget and Forecast Reporting:
    • Financial Planning: Develop, implement, and monitor financial plans, budgets, and forecasts to support effective financial management and strategic decision-making.
    • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with senior management, department heads, and finance teams to ensure accurate and timely budgeting and forecasting, aligning financial plans with organizational goals.
  6. Cash Flow Management:
    • Liquidity Oversight: Manage cash flow and liquidity, including cash forecasting, working capital management, and treasury operations to ensure financial stability.
    • Trend Analysis: Monitor and analyze cash flow trends, ensuring sufficient funding for operational needs and strategic initiatives.

Requirements:

  1. Attributes:
    • Good and Proactive Working Attitude: A proactive and positive attitude towards challenges and opportunities.
    • Independent: Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  2. Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA, and/or MACPA preferred.
  3. Experience: Minimum of 5-8 years of relevant finance experience, with a strong preference for experience in the retail or grocery sectors; experience in the poultry industry is an advantage.
  4. Skills:
    • Leadership: Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to manage and develop a high-performing team.
    • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, Chinese, and Malay.
    • Analytical Skills: Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with SQL systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Organizational Skills: Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of handling multiple tasks efficiently.
  5. Additional Duties: Perform other reasonable duties as assigned to support the finance function and overall business objectives.
