Join one of the most dynamic Marketing and PR teams in the country, as we build Jaya Grocer to be Malaysia’s most loved everyday-everything grocer!
You will be responsible for leading media, PR, and sustainability initiatives in collaboration with various departments at Jaya Grocer and Grab. This position requires a seasoned professional who can apply creativity, consumer insights and analytical skills to elevate our brand presence, lead sustainability communications to support our corporate ESG (environmental, social, and governance) goals, as well as co-working with the Marketing teams to cross-amplify the effectiveness of the campaigns.
Key Responsibilities:
Public Relations:
- Develop and execute comprehensive PR strategies to enhance the company’s reputation and visibility in the retail supermarket sector.
- Build and maintain relationships with key media contacts, journalists, and influencers.
- Craft compelling press releases, media kits, and pitch stories that align with our brand narrative and industry trends.
- Manage media inquiries and interview requests, ensuring timely and effective responses.
- Organize and oversee press events, conferences, and media tours/engagement activities.
- Monitor and analyze media coverage, providing regular reports and insights to senior management.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging across all channels, including in-store communications.
Sustainability:
- Lead sustainability communications, aligning with the company’s environmental and social responsibility goals.
- Develop and implement sustainability campaigns to promote awareness and engagement both internally and externally.
- Collaborate with the sustainability team to integrate CSR initiatives into overall business strategy.
- Create content that highlights the company’s sustainability achievements and future goals, including reports, case studies, and digital content.
- Represent the company at sustainability forums, conferences, and industry events.
- Track and report on sustainability metrics and KPIs, communicating progress to stakeholders.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in sustainability relevant to retail supermarkets.
You should have:
- At least 5 years experience in a communications and results-driven public relations role, preferably with at least 3 years focusing on sustainability or related fields.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills.
- Natural strategic thinker and problem-solver who aligns PR and sustainability strategies with business goals.
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful PR campaigns.
- Ability to work well with a wide group of stakeholders and be open to idea experimentation.
- Highly organized, detailed, and meticulous, thriving in a fast-paced tech/digitally-inclined environment.
- Self-driven and motivated by social impact, with the ability to build and maintain strong media relationships.
- Leadership skills to inspire and lead initiatives, influencing others to prioritize sustainability.
- Analytical skills to measure the impact of PR and sustainability efforts.
