SENIOR EXECUTIVE - PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT AND COMPLIANCE

The Product Development & Compliance Senior Executive will support the end-to-end product development lifecycle while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. This role demands close collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive innovative product solutions, manage product registration, manage product variations, and handle Halal certification and KKLIU applications to support product launches and market expansion in Malaysia.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Development:

• Collaborate with the Marketing team to develop innovative health supplement formulations tailored to market demands.
• Research and source raw materials, ensuring they meet quality and compliance requirements.
• Conduct product testing, stability studies, and sensory evaluations to optimize formulations.
• Work closely with the contract manufacturer / OEM to ensure smooth production processes and resolve technical formulation issues.
• Review and ensure product labels, claims, and packaging comply with regulatory and consumer standards.

Regulatory Compliance:

• New Product Registration: Prepare and submit product registration dossiers to regulatory bodies, including NPRA, ensuring all documentation complies with DRGD and Malaysia’s Food Act 1983 or related regulations.
• Product Variation: Manage submissions for product variation approvals, including changes in formulation, labelling, or packaging, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• KKLIU Application: Handle the application and renewal process for advertising claims approval (KKLIU) with the Ministry of Health to ensure all promotional materials meet regulatory standards.
• Halal Registration: Manage Halal certification processes, including preparation of documentation, liaison with JAKIM, and ensuring compliance with Halal standards for all products.

Monitoring and Updates:

• Stay updated on local and international regulations affecting health supplements, including NPRA guidelines, Halal standards, and advertising requirements.
• Monitor changes in regulatory frameworks and update existing products and processes to ensure continued compliance.

Project Management:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales, and supply chain, to support product launches and post-market activities.
• Plan and manage product development timelines to ensure on-time product registration, Halal certification, and KKLIU approvals.
• Maintain detailed records of all regulatory submissions, approvals, and correspondence.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Pharmacy, Biotechnology, or a related field.
• Minimum 4-5 years of experience in product development, regulatory affairs, or a related role in the health supplement, pharmaceutical, or food industry.
• Experience in handling product registration, Halal certification, and KKLIU applications is highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of product development processes and regulatory requirements (e.g., GMP, HACCP, HALAL etc.).
• Understanding of active ingredients, including their function, benefits, dosage level and toxicity limits.
• Knowledge of Malaysia’s Food Act 1983, Food Regulations 1985, NPRA guidelines, and JAKIM Halal certification processes.
• Familiarity with preparing and managing regulatory documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-departmental collaboration.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask effectively.
