Position Overview
As Drama Byte’s Senior Executive, Human Resources, you will play a key role in shaping and nurturing a positive, dynamic work culture in our fast-paced, startup environment. You will lead HR strategies that empower our small, creative team while supporting the company's growth and future vision. With a passion for people and an understanding of the digital content industry, you will help establish strong HR systems and practices that align with our values and mission to bring authentic, diverse stories to the world.
In this role, you will be responsible for setting up the HR function, implementing effective people strategies, and fostering a creative, high-performance culture that thrives on collaboration, innovation, and agility.
Key Responsibilities
- HR Strategy, Setup, and Execution
- Develop and implement HR strategies and processes that support Drama Byte’s unique culture and the demands of a fast-growing digital media company.
- Establish HR systems, policies, and practices that align with our mission to create authentic, diverse content while ensuring a positive employee experience.
- Collaborate with leadership to shape a people strategy that drives business success and fosters creativity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Talent Acquisition and Development
- Lead the recruitment process to attract top talent for key roles in content production, marketing, and digital media, focusing on diversity and cultural fit.
- Develop and execute onboarding programs that immerse new hires in Drama Byte's values and production ethos, ensuring a smooth transition into the team.
- Implement performance management processes and talent development programs that nurture creativity, growth, and skill-building for our employees.
- Employee Relations and Culture-Building
- Foster an inclusive and supportive work environment that promotes employee well-being, creativity, and collaboration across teams.
- Act as a trusted advisor to leadership, guiding on people-related matters and helping to resolve conflicts or concerns, ensuring a positive work culture.
- Organize initiatives that celebrate the diverse, multicultural nature of Drama Byte’s workforce and the audience we serve.
- Payroll and Compliance Management
- Oversee payroll processing to ensure timely, accurate compensation and tax filings for both full-time and part-time employees.
- Maintain compliance with Malaysian labor laws and internal policies, ensuring fair and transparent processes for all employees.
- Manage employee benefits, including insurance and wellness programs, ensuring that policies are aligned with industry standards and employee needs.
- Office and Facilities Management
- Coordinate office administration tasks, including facility management, office supplies, and travel arrangements for both local and international projects.
- Act as the primary contact for insurance matters and ensure that all necessary resources are available to support the team’s needs.
- HR Analytics and Data-Driven Decision-Making
- Leverage HR data and insights to optimize recruitment, retention, and performance management strategies.
- Provide regular reports to leadership on key HR metrics to guide decision-making and improve employee satisfaction.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in HR roles, or with at least 2 years in a startup or media-centric company.
- Proven track record in setting up HR functions and processes, particularly in creative and media industries.
- Deep understanding of HR principles and best practices, especially in recruitment, talent management, and employee engagement.
- Experience in managing HR processes for small, diverse teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of HR tools, software, and analytics to streamline operations and support data-driven decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to connect with employees at all levels and maintain a positive work culture.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities, particularly in a startup setting.
- Highly adaptable, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
- A collaborative, hands-on leader who thrives in a startup environment and is comfortable with ambiguity and change.
