Cochlear Malaysia manufactures & services Sound Processors to support Cochlear’s global operations in over 100 countries. To support the growth in Manufacturing, we have a fantastic opportunity for Senior Engineer - Manufacturing Test Systems to work in Cochlear Malaysia.
In this role, you will be responsible for providing efficient and timely, high-quality electronics and test system services support to Manufacturing, ensuring that the test systems are qualified to meet the manufacturing objectives during the design transfer of new test systems. You will lead user acceptance tests and qualification tests to meet the manufacturing requirements. Additionally, you will ensure all production equipment is running to full capacity and carry out failure analysis to determine the cause and implement corrective action.
Key Responsibilities:
- Propose relevant tools and identify PCBA and electronic component failures.
- Identify hardware & software defects to ensure the system meets and conforms to the test system requirements and test specifications.
- Analyze and interpret test data using statistical tools and techniques such as Gage R&R and Cpk Analysis, and prepare technical reports for management review.
- Integrate hardware and software to fully support manufacturing tests for existing and new products using both traditional and computer-based instruments.
- Implement and maintain cost-effective methods of testing and troubleshooting test systems.
- Resolve minor to complex manufacturing and compliance issues.
- Continuous improvement of test equipment and process performance to meet safety, quality, productivity, and cost objectives.
- Perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and regression testing to ensure the system has not regressed after software updates and changes have been made to the system.
- Resolve production yield problems by performing root cause analysis, developing, and coordinating corrective actions, and monitoring improvements.
- Review test equipment designs, manuals, work instructions, PFMEA, and safety to ensure quality requirements are met.
- Improve production yield, reliability, and quality through test condition optimization, advanced redundancy analysis schemes, data analysis, and test equipment hardware optimization.
- Liaise and collaborate with other departments (NPI, R&D, IT, Project, Firmware, Business support, and Production Team) to resolve manufacturing challenges regarding the development of new test system deliverables, system functionality, and issues.
Why is this role right for you?
- At least 8 years of experience in PCB design, software-driven tests, software integration, and evaluation processes on complex manufacturing or advanced technology projects is a MUST for this position.
- Minimum degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer, or Mechatronics Engineering or related field from a recognized university.
- MUST be proficient in any software programming language and scripting – NI LabVIEW, Python, C++ programming languages.
- Good theory in acoustics or Radio Frequency (RF) is a MUST for this position.
- Experience in coaching or training juniors in electronic design, software-driven tests, software integration, and evaluation processes on manufacturing projects is an added advantage.
- Experience in designing experiments, developing protocols, and performing equipment validations is an added advantage.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment, especially in industrial electronics with expertise in automation control, process improvement, and failure analysis is an added advantage.
- Experience in developing or editing test software is a MUST for this position.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are highly essential for this role.
- Good interpersonal skills with excellent verbal and written communication in English.
