Senior Engineer, Geotechnical (Kuala Lumpur)

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Plan and supervise geotechnical investigations, including soil testing, surveys, and field/lab data collection to assess site conditions.
• Identify and mitigate geotechnical risks to ensure the safety and stability of construction projects.
• Develop cost-effective designs for foundations, ground treatment, slope stabilization, and earthworks tailored to site conditions.
• Monitor and inspect geotechnical works like earthworks and foundations, ensuring compliance with design standards and resolving issues.
• Perform analyses (e.g., slope stability, settlement) to guide design and construction strategies and ensure long-term performance.
• Prepare clear reports and drawings that provide comprehensive geotechnical insights and recommendations.
• Work closely with project teams, clients, and contractors to execute projects efficiently and resolve technical challenges.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulators, and other stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and project alignment.
• Stay updated on geotechnical advancements and incorporate best practices and new technologies into project work.
• Mentor team members, maintain professionalism and knowledge database to support future projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s in Geotechnical Engineering preferred).
• Minimum 10 years of total work experience geotechnical design or construction (preferably in Malaysia or similar challenging environments).
• Proficient in geotechnical design software (e.g., Geostudio, Plaxis, Repute).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
• Experience presenting technical information to clients, regulators, and management.
• Familiar with Malaysian geotechnical standards and regulations.
• Physically fit and willing to work in remote or challenging site conditions.
• Flexible team player with a readiness to conduct site visits.
