KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for managing site construction activities and supervising field personnel for Civil, Building and/or Structural disciplines.
- Ensure that lifting activities at site are planned, scheduled, executed with the highest regard for personal safety and environmental excellence.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Works to a 90-day look ahead schedule and directs all field personnel and subcontractors to achieve completion of the project on schedule, with quality workmanship that conforms to plans and specifications.
- Ensure all work is executed in compliance with Contract requirements, Petrofac Management System requirements and associated procedures and all relevant standards.
- Contribute to the development of plans, schedules and estimates for individual work scope.
- Ensure Go/NoGo checklist is signed off and enough Workfront is available prior to mobilisation of Subcontractor.
- Verify the Subcontractor’s execution plan at an early stage and approve only if it aligns with Petrofac deliverables.
- Prepare and discuss with subcontractor in advance construction method, sequence of works for critical activities.
- Initiate scoping sessions with subcontractors to plan activities.
- Contribute to construction schedule and 6-weeks look-ahead, understand the project plans and specifications, identify and solve problems, order materials and schedule inspections as necessary.
- Coordinate with Engineering & PMT to ensure that planned activities are constraints free.
- Review work procedures and method statements for compliance with good work practices and the customers contract specializations.
- Ensure subcontractors are working with the latest issued documents and drawings.
- Implement standardized construction work processes, procedures, manuals and systems.
- Ensure adequate storage and preservation of equipment & bulks before and after installation.
- Take ownership of Build Right First Time (QinC) as nominated by CD/SM.
- Monitor implementation of PPC (daily progress monitoring) and submit daily progress report to line manager.
- Highlight to Construction Manager & Subcontractor any areas of concern that might impact project execution.
- Coordinate with the Client / QC inspectors for the resolution of site problems.
- Liaise with other disciplines in the execution of work.
- Assist the site subcontractors in the resolution of drawing interpretation.
- Monitor calibration status and condition of Inspection/Test and Measuring instruments.
- Ensure closure of all RFIs and related inspection/test records immediately after successful completion of each inspection.
- Monitor completion of system/sub system in his area based on previously forecasted ITRs.
- Ensure that all punch items are closed on a timely basis and assist in commissioning plan.
- Attend subcontract/cost awareness sessions and understand the Responsibility matrices, BOQ & preambles of subcontract.
- Ensure quantity reporting is established and reported accurately.
- Challenge every Site Instruction based on Ts and Cs and assess cost impact prior to approval.
- Conduct a review of all Site Instructions & Variation Orders with Subcontracts Manager on a monthly basis.
- Immediately report any cost affecting inspection results to discipline lead and highlight to engineering.
- Coordinate with Subcontractor for timely closure of Non-conformances NCR, Corrective actions (CAR), Daily surveillance (DSR) and Quality Walkthrough findings.
- Ensure competency check of construction supervisor and subcontractors.
Knowledge & Qualifications:
- 8+ years of Civil and Structural Engineering experience in direct hire construction with an international oil & gas EPC company and with subcontractors.
- Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent from an accredited college or university.
- Experience working in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS/FSU), Middle East, and/or North Africa is preferred.
- Good communication skills.
- Familiarity with International codes and standards (BS, ASTM, ACI, etc.), concrete/asphalt mix designs, laboratory testing of concrete, asphalt, earth works and grouting.
- Must have working knowledge and interpretation skills of building sectional/reinforcement and structural steel drawings.
- Knowledge and experience to solve civil, building, structural issues onsite and provide guidance to subcontractors.
- Trained in lifting and scaffolding supervision (preferred).
