Job Description

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join our expanding software development team and help us on our DevOps journey. You will be involved in defining technical solutions, infrastructure architectures and will be responsible for delivery of production-ready solutions and infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will be someone who is passionate about automation & all things DevOps and understands the real benefits of an Agile & DevOps culture, with significant experience of DevOps transformation.

You will be working in a fast-paced organisation using Agile/Scrum methodology with Exec board support driving our DevOps transition.

What you’ll be doing

1. Work closely with the Development team to bring new software releases to production more effectively
2. Develop and deploy OSS tools for use within the Cloud Operations group
3. Develop, deploy and manage a highly-scalable and high-availability platforms monitoring and maintaining service performance and availability metrics
4. Automate everything from deployment to monitoring and management to incident response - treat 'Everything as Code'
5. Take ownership of our configuration management platforms
6. Collaborate with developers to bring new features and services into production
7. Assist identifying and mitigating security threats to comply with a strict security compliance
8. Develop and improve operational practices and procedures
9. Produce high-level design documentation where required
10. Ensure close collaboration between Development and Operations, enabling smoother operation between teams
11. Innovation in all areas - people, process, technology.

Qualifications

1. Lateral thinking, reverse engineering, good at problem solving
2. Obsession for good documentation: using wiki to log changes, write procedures and instructions
3. Programming skills and have strong interest in DevOps, Systems Engineering or Build and Release Engineering
4. Experience programming in Java, Groovy
5. Strong Linux administration: Ubuntu / Debian, Redhat / CentOS
6. Configuration management tools - Chef / Puppet / Ansible
7. Continuous integration tools - Jenkins, Maven, Gradle
8. Experience with issue tracking - JIRA
9. Practical experience implementing AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure
10. Automation experience with Terraform
11. Experience with cloud-based development and deployment
12. Production experience with deployment and management of cloud technologies
