Senior Consultant - Big Data, Research & Information

As a Senior Consultant - Big Data, Research & Information, you will play a critical role in advancing the Malaysian Employers Federation’s (MEF) ability to analyze economic data and generate insights that inform policy decisions, industry practices, and member benefits. Your experience and expertise in economic analysis will shape MEF’s advocacy efforts and provide strategic guidance to its leadership and members.

Responsibilities:

• Examine local and international economic data to identify trends and derive insights relevant to Malaysian industries and employers.
• Analyse economic patterns and their implications on industry practices, policy development, and member benefits. Provide actionable recommendations based on your findings.
• Collect, interpret, and analyse economic data from various sources (e.g., government reports, international organizations) to provide accurate assessments and forecasts.
• Assess the potential impact of proposed policies and offer insights and recommendations to align policy decisions with MEF’s goals and the interests of its members.
• Utilize statistical methods and economic models to evaluate data, produce forecasts, and generate comprehensive reports.
• Prepare and present detailed reports, economic forecasts, and briefings to MEF’s Council, senior management, and other stakeholders, ensuring clarity and relevance.
• Communicate findings effectively to top management and stakeholders, providing them with the information needed to make informed decisions.
• Stay updated on relevant industry developments, economic trends, and policy changes to ensure MEF’s research remains current and impactful.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior consultants and researchers, sharing knowledge and enhancing the team’s research capacity.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in research, particularly in economic analysis, data interpretation, and policy evaluation.
• Master’s degree or higher in Economics, Data Science, or a related field.
• Deep understanding of economic data analysis, statistical methods, and economic modelling techniques.
• Experience in evaluating the impact of policies on industries and the ability to align research with the strategic objectives of an organization.
• Strong ability to communicate complex data and research findings clearly, both in writing and presentations.
• Demonstrated experience in managing research projects, providing leadership, and working closely with top management.
• Ability to work collaboratively across departments and provide mentorship to junior researchers.
