Senior Business Process Analyst (Finance Master Data)

Job Description:

The Senior Business Process Analyst is to govern Finance Master Data, including the Harmonised Data Set (HDS), Financial Data Structure (FDS) & Chart of Accounts (COA). The role requires serving as an expert to manage complex or critical data process areas to ensure integrity checks & approvals are applied before data maintenance. These controls over the exchange rate, HDS, FDS, and COA master data are fundamental to ensure the financial data is accurately reported & adheres to BP Group Accounts, Complex Local Statutory Reporters, Group Tax & the Segment MI teams.

Key Accountabilities

1. Operationalise finance master data requests in accordance with SLAs and conduct validations to ensure compliance with the Global Financial Template (GFT), Americas Financial Template (AFT), Finance Business Warehouse (FBW) data standards, practices, and policies.
2. Manage finance data critical or complex processes, including but not limited to:
3. Act as the focal point for the exchange rate process, including troubleshooting and resolving exchange rate issues to ensure Finance business continuity.
4. Perform, analyze, and validate forecasting and planning rates, and the addition of new exchange rate types, as well as monitor the distribution of exchange rates to the transactional systems.
5. Work closely with the FDS COA team to ensure the Quarterly Group Reporting Manual (GRM) changes are accurate, complete, and timely for Group Reporting Purposes.
6. Act as the focal point for validation and release hold back table entries process.
7. Support the Finance Security process, including analyzing, validating, and approving Finance business roles, as well as ensuring proper Segregation of Duties (SOD).
8. Support the Financial Reporting Structure, Cons Unit, and Company Code process.
9. Operationalise validation and release hold back table entries and renaming of Global and Operational Accounts for short text and/or long text.
10. Review and approve updates to Financial Data Structures (FDS) and associated mapping tables.
11. Support Project Deployments on Finance Master Data, FBW loads mappings, resolving issues when required.
12. Identify, review, and propose continuous improvement within the system, internal control, and end-to-end process.
13. Possess good knowledge in FBW, Financial Templates, and associated mapping tables as a Global Centre of Expertise for finance master data.
14. Provide business support at key periods (e.g., month end) to enable timely reporting.
15. Attend to internal and external audit queries on Finance Master Data processes when required.
16. Review and update policy and procedures when required.
17. Educate business users and super users to ensure they fully understand the finance master data request process, procedures, and principles.
18. Maintain good working relationships with key stakeholders such as Super Users and Technical support teams.
19. Inspire teams to learn new skills, adopt new practices, and seek growth opportunities.
20. Ensure successful change management processes when there are new changes in processes or systems introduced.

Essential Education and Experience

1. Bachelor’s degree in finance or recognized professional accounting qualification or related fields.
2. Minimum of 6 - 7 years of experience in general accounting, Group & MI reporting, or data administration.
3. Proficient in SAP FI & CO, preferably with exposure to SAP MDG and maintenance of finance data structures/mapping.
4. Able to work shifts during quarter close and standby (if needed).

1. Excellent communication skills, ability to handle conflict, and ability to work through sophisticated issues and complex setup requirements that must be coordinated with key stakeholders.
2. Ability to prioritize technology, work under stress, and meet tight deadlines.
