As the Senior Accounting Manager, you will play a key role in establishing and managing the finance operations of our new manufacturing site by leading the accounting function, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and providing strategic financial insights to support decision-making. This is a pivotal leadership role in a dynamic environment, requiring a mix of hands-on execution and strategic thinking.
Reporting to the Finance Controller, you will build and oversee day-to-day accounting, treasury & tax, and reporting activities in Malaysia while being an effective partner with the local Plant Controller and US headquarters and provide oversight and enhancements as appropriate to the financial processes and controls.
Work Location: Onsite - Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all accounting activities including Financial Closing/Reporting, Controls, Statutory Accounting, Tax compliance, and Treasury:
Accounting Leadership: Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, cost accounting, and fixed asset accounting.
Financial Reporting: Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with local and international accounting standards (IFRS & US GAAP).
Compliance: Manage tax filings, audits, and statutory reporting to ensure compliance with Malaysian financial regulations.
- Ensure accuracy and timely submission of books and records.
- Establish an effective business partnership with the financial planning team as well as the manufacturing operation team.
- Maximize the Oracle system and other automation capabilities to deliver timely financial insights.
- Assist in establishing policies and procedures; build relationships with the audit team and ensure timely and successful completion of audits.
- Build an effective team and provide strong leadership.
- Manage external vendors that provide tax, accounting, and statutory filing requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Competencies:- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, preferably with Master's degree and/or Professional Certifications such as CPA, ACCA, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
- Prior experience in manufacturing or the semiconductor industry (highly preferred).
- Experience with Greenfield project setups or new site implementations is a significant advantage.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., financial modeling, data analysis).
- Solid understanding of Malaysian tax laws, corporate governance, and statutory compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with international financial standards, including IFRS and US GAAP; knowledgeable in Sarbanes Oxley.
- Proficiency in ERP systems such as Oracle (preferred), SAP or similar platforms.
- Fluent in English with excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
- The ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and react well under pressure.
