Senior Accountant (Japanese Speaker)

Join our dynamic team to support Carro Japan's financial operations remotely from Malaysia. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and skilled finance professional proficient in Japanese and English, offering opportunities for occasional travel to Japan to collaborate with local teams and stakeholders.

What you will do:

• Manage day-to-day finance operations for Carro Japan, including marketplace transactions, inventory management, treasury, and related activities, ensuring that SLA requirements are consistently met.
• Perform timely and accurate month-end closing for Carro Japan's marketplace business, ensuring compliance with group standards.
• Provide insightful profitability and trend analysis on a monthly, year-to-date, and full-year basis, focusing on revenue and working capital.
• Review monthly balance sheet ledgers to ensure all balances are reconciled, substantiated with supporting documentation, and aligned with Group finance policies.
• Liaise remotely with external auditors to provide accurate workings and documentation during year-end audit fieldwork. Manage audits to ensure their timely and efficient completion.
• Advise on control and process improvements to optimize routine finance tasks and enhance operational efficiency.
• Oversee the preparation and submission of accurate and timely tax returns for the Japan entity, with guidance from tax advisors.
• Support ad-hoc finance special projects and transformation initiatives as needed.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, both internal and external, to support business-led initiatives and projects relevant to the Japan market.

What you will need:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance or Accountancy, with at least 5 years of experience in financial and/or management accounting. CPA or equivalent qualifications are an advantage.
• Fluency in Japanese and English is essential, with a proficiency level equivalent to JLPT N2 or higher.
• Prior experience in a Big Four or mid-tier accounting firm, or within large tech companies, is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of IFRS, with expertise in areas such as revenue recognition, inventory valuation, finance leases, loan financing, and related party transactions.
• Hands-on experience in designing and implementing financial controls. Familiarity with SOX controls is a plus.
• Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to manage deadlines and deliver quality results.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively present findings and collaborate with stakeholders.
• Demonstrable business, commercial, and financial acumen, particularly in the tech sector, with analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Self-starter with a structured, hands-on approach to problem-solving and solution development.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite and G Suite. Familiarity with ERP systems such as Netsuite and analytical tools like Tableau is advantageous.
