National Institutes of Biotechnology Malaysia (NIBM) – Bangi, Selangor

National Institutes of Biotechnology Malaysia (NIBM) established on 27 January 2012 is a consortium of national biotechnology institutes under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) operating as a Company Limited by Guarantee to carry out research, development, innovation and commercialization of modern biotechnology. The consortium consists of three institutes which is the Malaysian Agro-Biotechnology Institute (ABI) in Serdang, Selangor, the Malaysian Pharmaceutical and Nutraceutical Institute (IPharm) in Gelugor, Penang, and the Malaysia Genome and Vaccine Institute (MGVI) in Bangi, Selangor. NIBM invites qualified, experienced, dynamic, and work-ready individuals to join our organization for the following positions:

Responsibilities:

  • Design and conduct experiments to develop and optimize biosensor prototypes, particularly based on lateral flow technology;
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data to drive decision-making;
  • Collaborate with other scientists to integrate biosensors into larger systems;
  • Stay current with the latest scientific literature and technological advancements in biosensors;
  • Prepare and present research findings to internal teams and external stakeholders;
  • Contribute to grant writing and publication of research results in peer-reviewed journals;
  • Provide consultation to internal teams and external stakeholders, particularly related to lateral flow technology and biosensors;
  • Design and conduct training programs to internal teams and external stakeholders;
  • Be involved in managerial / administration related work.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum Master’s Degree in Biochemistry/Biomedical Engineering/Chemistry or any related field recognized by the Malaysian government from a local or foreign higher education institution or a qualification recognized as equivalent;
  • PhD holders in the related field are encouraged to apply;
  • Proven experience in biosensor development and characterization;
  • Strong understanding of analytical techniques and instrumentation;
  • Proficient in data analysis software;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently as well as in a team environment;
  • Experience with bioreceptors, lateral flow technology and prototype research and development;
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for medical devices;
  • Candidates with experience in a collaborative research environment and ISO 17025 is an added advantage;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, specifically in Bahasa Melayu and English.
