The Safety & Security Manager is responsible for overseeing the Safety & Security Department, directing daily security and safety operations for the hotel. This includes comprehensive loss prevention strategies, managing parking and traffic control flow, conducting regular patrols, enforcing legal statutes and hotel policies, inspecting critical risk areas, and implementing safety protocols within the hotel.

Responsibilities:

  • Head the Occupational Safety & Health Committee for the hotel. Conduct regular meetings and workplace inspections.
  • Coordinate inspections by the Department of Safety and Health (DOSH). Develop and manage action plans based on their comments regarding safety in all areas, including Chemical Health Risk Assessment (CHRA), and obtain certificates of fitness for equipment and plants.
  • Conduct monthly meetings with the Emergency Response Team to ensure fire drills are conducted. Deliver Safety and Security awareness training to all hotel associates by departments.
  • Conduct monthly internal fire drills involving Emergency Response Teams for all three shifts, one shift per month. Conduct evacuation and fire drills with the Fire Brigade twice a year, mid-year and once at year-end.
  • Conduct basic fire-fighting training for all security personnel.
  • Conduct Security Awareness/Orientation for all new colleagues.
  • Liaise with relevant authorities, such as PDRM (Police), regarding matters pertaining to public order.
  • Conduct thorough investigations of incidents reported by guests and colleagues in the hotel.
  • Meet with group and meeting organizers to promote the Safety and Security of the hotel. Conduct safety briefings for oil and gas companies when necessary. Conduct flushing/screening with authorities for VIP arrivals.
  • Maintain a daily Security Manager checklist for conducting rounds.
  • Remain alert at all times, observing the surroundings and reporting any suspicious activity on the premises to the Operations Team.
  • Conduct safety trainings in accordance with the SOP.
  • Manage the deployment of outsourced personnel for building, car park, and building perimeter security.
  • Conduct a monthly Crisis checklist in accordance with the threat level.
  • Review the security manual monthly for updates and share information with in-house management.
  • Follow up on Legionella tests by the Engineering and Food Safety HACCP by the culinary department to complete the interim Property Security Audit, when necessary.
  • Prepare and conduct an annual Tabletop Exercise.
  • Present operational briefs during briefings pertaining to Safety, Security, and brand assurance.
  • Carry out any other duties assigned by Management.

Requirements:

  • Preferably hold a Diploma or Degree or higher in criminal justice, security management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hotel security management experience in security and fire control fields.
  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of fire procedures, disaster plan protocols, bomb threats, and hotel evacuation procedures.
  • Proficient with government regulations and technical rules.
  • Fluency in English to meet business communication needs is preferred.
  • Strong observational and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to remain calm and make rational decisions under pressure.
